Everything was just right. Clean, comfortable and welcoming without being over the top. Great breakfast. Good location with access to a beach bar and free sunbeds. My best stay in Sri Lanka

I stayed for two nights and had a great time. Elena will take care of your well-being. I felt very good. The beach is a park of steps.

The rooms are beautifully decorated (hand painted designs by the owner - Elena), and there are very thoughtful extras like an umbrella for each room, dressing gowns, and separate shower/beach towels. A very cozy place!

I had a very strange check-in process because when Elena (who is Russian) asked where I'm from and I said "the UK" she said she had never heard of the UK. Her level of English isn't great so I assumed maybe she didn't understand my accent, but when I said "United Kingdom" in full and I even wrote it down in her check-in book to show her what I was saying, she said she still didn’t know "what is UK?". It's completely bizarre that a person who works in the travel industry hasn't heard of the UK. Also, I asked for advice on what to see in Trincomalee but she didn't have much advice so I just used Google to find out myself. The electricity in my room didn't work on my first night, but was probably related to the torrential rainfall tripping switches. I could hear animals scratching around in/on my ceiling all night. Final point - when I asked to check-out and pay my bill, Elena asked if she could finish her cigarette first... but she was CONSTANTLY smoking, there wasn't a second when I saw her without a cigarette!

Elena is a nice person, the location is ideal (few mins walk to the beach & close to restaurants), free parking.

-We had the room next to where Elena lives and she sat outside smoking all day, which meant we could not sit on our porch or have our room door open as it smelt so bad of smoke… -The room is dark and not well lit. There is a lamp but the ceiling lights don’t do a good job at all, especially in the bathroom. -The room is not well ventilated (no fan in the bathroom only a v small window) so it smells damp after a day or 2 of using the shower and wet towels etc. -The electricity went out 3 times during our 3 night stay…Could’ve been due to weather but meant we had no lights or WiFi for an hour or 2 at a time. -The WiFi isn’t strong enough to stream. -The hammock outside our room had been broken and re-tied up, so you couldn’t sit in it/it was awkward to sit in. - Some maintenance and TLC is needed overall.

i highly recommend this resort. The staff is very helpful. The resort is calm and clean & it is about 1 minutě walk to a nice and clean Beach. The room is clean, smell nkcely. it is possible to sit outside the room. thank you, you are super!

Elena Garden Resort is located close to the beach. Elena is friendly and helpful and she let me borrow her water cooker. All rooms are decorated in shiny bright colors by Elena also with wall paintings.

This time of the year (Nov) it is really off-season in this city (Sigiriya Ella Kandy I did not experience this) and almost all restaurants and resorts were closed. That’s gave a bit of a weird impression as it was not lively. I went on the snorkelling trip to Pigeon Island, but it was so-so as the coral was dead. But this is more Trincomalee and not necessarily the accommodation.
