"Lovely refurbished room in wonderful atmospheric pub."

9.0

Breakfast was generous, good ingredients and well cooked. Lovely help yourself table for juice, cereal etc.

One meal...pork ...at evening ...was disappointing. The cut of meat did not suit quick cooking...so extremely tough, Chewy, difficult to cut and barely edible. Sorry! Everything else..Chicken ceasar salad, venison steak, squid, delicious.

"This pub is a gem - located in an AONB in the heart of a tiny village - with a cosy welcoming atmosphere and friendly st"

10.0

I was on a walking tour in the area of the Cranbourne Chase AONB and this hotel lay directly on my walking route in the heart of the tiny village - so no need to divert from the trail. Right next door to the converted church/village store - so really convenient to pick up a newspaper for the evening and a sandwich on my way out the next day. Couldn’t fault the setting. Attractive facade on the outside only gets better as you enter the bar area - cosy feel with beams and log fire - true character. And extremely welcoming staff. Has the welcoming atmosphere of a local pub but with fine dining. The room I stayed in - overlooking the sheltered courtyard- was clean, comfortable and classy - including the provision of fresh milk and cookies! Lots of other “small things “ which taken together makes this place (and staff) special. Highly recommended.

Can’t really say there was anything I didn’t like - if I’d known beforehand how good the place was I’d have made it my base and taken different walks from there each day, returning at night.

A warm welcome from Joseph and a fab dinner at the bar. The room was really comfortable having been recently refurbished. Thank you.

"I can’t recommend any higher, it depends on your wants. The shower is amazing."

9.0

Great room, good size, easy and roomy to work online, calm and efficient . Good food, and this is one of my bugbears, in a morning in the room you don’t want a dainty cup to make tea, we’re British, you get a mug at the queen’s, good teas and a cafetière. Tv is smart and you don’t have to log in. Nothing to dislike. I will definitely return. I work away midweek, the queen’s so far …is my highest rating.

Not a dislike, possibly a personal thing, side dish of rice or grain on the menu, I’m over most carbs mid week.

Loved our stay at the Queens Head. Bar was busy when we arrived, but staff made us welcome. Bed was excellent and appreciated as 2 previous nights spent in an unrelated hotel where the bed wasn't good. Food exceptional, atmosphere great, so was the shower, the cleaning and the welcome cookie.

TV signal poor, but then realised we had access to streaming so problem fixed. We were very happy customers

Newly refurbished, and appears to be new owners - Chickpea. Has still got the same charm and appeal as previous.
