LakeSide Cabana Tissamaharama

Host was very nice and helpful. Had dinner there, was simple but good. Room is very big. It is a cool experience but be prepared to some bugs crawling over you in the night. We also booked a half day safari through them and was wel organised. We got some breakfast and snacks for the way.

I'm a bit torn with this review, but here is the good: The location is exactly as expected and the grounds are nice. Walking around the lake was nice and it was relaxing place to be, generally. The staff seemed very amicable, but there were issues as well. The safari was the clutch point here. She booked us with Indu from spotting trails, and he is an absolute gem of a person and guide on a safari. We saw leopards three times, and all up close. He is kind and friendly and has so much to share and will make sure that you get a great view and that even when you aren't seeing big things, you are getting right up to take the best shots of every little bird and animal. He is amazing. I can't rave enough about him. The property has pets, and they are fun.for the most part, but also there are some issues there

Just a hint: don't leave your shoes anywhere the cat goes. Our shoes are ruined from the cat peeing in them. The dogs are nice but the little one just bites and bites. Everyone was lovely until I started to wonder why one man was sleeping on the couch next to the dining area. I joked that he was sleeping on the couch because he's lazy-- he laid there for days, aside from petting my kids heads and laying out our plates once or twice. He's not lazy-- he was very sick and they left him there with our food and now my children and I are all sick like he was and in a very remote place (not the location, we left days ago) with no medicine and we don't speak the language. Shame on you. You left your sick family member with the guests and it's your business. We came home from safari exhausted. My phone battery was dead. I had been up since 4 am and it was almost 6 pm. Due to zero communication about the food, we only knew we had half the food and we're STARVING and we couldn't find any of the staff/family anywhere. I couldn't call an Uber or pick me, it's far out, I couldn't find them about dinner (you have to ask an hour ahead), and my kids were crying... They just disappeared at dinner time and hid. It made for a bad night having to walk into town with the dogs following us and not even having a charge in my phone, etc. Unprofessional and selfish staff who could not care less if you starve, get lost, get sick, get pissed on.... I have travelled all over Asia on a shoestring. We stay in dives. I draw the line at being disrespected like that. Im not here to be extracted from like that. Shame on you. Also the wifi barley works right next to it.

Beuatiful place with amazing view over the lake. Lovely house with very nice owner who cooked lunch and diner for us, both delicious! Also the property is relly nice, witb beautiful plants and flowers, really teopical! And the 3 dogs were so cute!

Authentic and peaceful

Lovely treehouse over looking the lake. Basic but good value for money.

Could have been cleaner. Very dirty under beds. Would have been nice to have been offered breakfast.

We stayed in the lakeside cabana, the views were amazing! The room had everything you needed in it and was comfortable. The family (and the dogs) were simply amazing! The dad picked us up from our hotel in Ella for a really good price and on the way back did little stops and spoke to us about the area and the animals. We booked the safari through the hotel and that was one of the best days of the whole holiday, Indu the driver was great at his job and the food provided by the hotel for the whole day was delicious! We saw everything, including two leopards and Indu was very knowledgeable. We stayed over the Sri Lanka new year and we were invited to join in the family festivities with the extended family and joined the feast! Again... delicious! What a place to stay, couldn't recommend it more!
