Hotel El Reformador

Staff was super friendly. Incuded breakfast was very good. Great shower with good water pressure.

The food in the restaurant was great - and so was the lady who seemed to be doing all the service. I rate the breakfast - very tasty and great value - but dinner was good too. The place was very clean, just rather shabby.

No hot water in my shower. I hope never to have to wash my hair under a cold shower ever again. Zero facilities in the room, except coat hangers and soap. The furnishings and bed linen are very old and tired and need replacing. The guy on reception is the evening is pretty grumpy. Why?! Find a new job, dude. The rest of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was too small for the amount of furniture; the bathroom door wouldn't open properly because the second bed was in the way. The light streamed into the room through the window panes about the door :/ The location was handy for the port but didn't feel too safe for a female solo traveller. I wished I'd stayed much closer to the port.

There is almost nothing good about this hotel. The staff working here are VERY LOUD, and we heard a lot of noise in the afternoon, evening, and in the morning. We were woken up both days at 5 in the morning when the staff arrived because they were talking loud and laughing! We were so shocked by how loud it was, and since all the rooms faced each other in a courtyard, there was no way to escape the noise. On the first day when we arrived, we checked in and took a nap because we drove 5 and a half hours from the city. A staff member came inside the room to clean even though we just checked in and the room was already clean. From that moment on we were worried about why the staff was entering our room when there was no need to. The hotel is very outdated and the rooms are not nice at all. The restaurant is only open during the morning for breakfast and the coffee is instant coffee which is sad because Guatemala has some of the best coffee in the world. This is not a luxury hotel as we paid $57 for each night. However, the conditions are so bad and it's not worth that price. This hotel is worth about $25 or $30 per night.

We had a bad experience with almost everything.

It was centrally located near harbor restaurants. We felt safe there. They had English speaking staff at the front desk and they arranged an English speaking taxi for us that arrived promptly at 6:00 a.m. The room was clean and had plenty of hot water. The building felt very safe.
