The Syntopia Hotel - Adults Only

The aesthetics and cleanliness are second to none. The staff are great, with a couple of exceptions.

Months before we paid for our holiday, I checked whether as vegans, we would be well catered for with the all-inclusive package. After initially getting no reply, I followed up and was told that there are lots of vegan options on the buffet and not to worry. As we are very laid back, we made do, however the member of staff at the snack bar continuously lied about not having ingredients for the only vegan option and would then begrudgingly make the item for us. Because of this, we simply stopped asking. The buffet has some options, however, there were a lot of things that could have been left vegan but they then had last minute cheese, meat or seafood garnishing them. There is a meat and cheese bar always available should you wish to do this yourself. As all-inclusive guests, you are able to book a lunch basket to take out the next day with you, should you wish to explore the island. We booked ours, with our room number and dietary preference. The next morning we picked up our lunch basket and drove 2 hours to our destination. On opening the basket, the contents were: 2x bottles of water, 2x juice cartons, 2x pears, 2x apples, 2x brown sandwiches, 2x white sandwiches. The fruit was wrapped in cling wrap (?!) which really doesn't align with the ethical premise of Syntopia. The bread for the sandwiches was stale and dry and must have been what was out at breakfast. The filling of the sandwiches was simply one slice of Gouda - not vegan Gouda - and a 1 inch square piece of lettuce. Nothing else. We find it hard to believe that guests with no dietary preferences would be satisfied with this. We had to go and purchase lunch on top of the cost of our "All-inclusive" holiday. Whilst we were out for the day I contacted the hotel to ask about this, and they said it had been mixed up, with a smiley face emoji to follow.

The customer service was the best the staff so nice and assertive as well. Everything you could want and more.

I didn’t love the fact that the all inclusive option wasn’t really all inclusive. You have to pay for bottled water and the water from the tap is not good at all. Also, the rooftop was blocked off all day Sunday for some reason. There was also a bad smell on the first floor that smelled like sewer.
