L'Andana Tenuta La Badiola

The setting, surroundings and building are simply stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are roomy and spotless. The wine was great and inexpensive. The staff were very friendly. The food good.

With all that I say is Good this should be a 5star review, but....there were quite a few 'but's. Booking.com directions direct you to a back drive and entrance, so you miss the stunning tree lined drive ascending uptoward the grand house. It's a shame because first impressions count. This should be sorted. Secondly! On arriving at reception, 5 staff were facing me at the desk. I felt intimidated. My room was ready within a few moments. I was taken over by a very nice member of staff. The room was large, airy, with the most amazing view over the putting green and vineyards. However, the bed was in totally the wrong position. Instead of facing the view, it was at 45 degrees, so when you are sitting in bed, you see only a restricted view. The room has all the amenities you need. The mini bar, wines from the estates are all very reasonable and actually nice, but the little gift of three cantucci is a bit mean.At my Agrotourismo, I give my guests a bottle of fizz, a bottle of red, a whole pack of cantucci, bread, cheese, ham, eggs, coffee pods etc etc. I would say that some of the fixtures, fittings and furniture are incongruous with the building and setting. I wanted to eat in the fine dining restaurant, but it was full, so I went to the more casual restaurant. As a single person I was hussled to a corner table and on being sat I ordered a glass of wine and water both came. 34 minutes later the maitre d came to take my order. I hadn't even been given the menu. The one sheet, very very restricted menu, with only 3 or so choices and for Secondi only Barbecued food on offer didn't hit the mark for a hotel at this level. When the food came it was 'pleasant' enough but no 'Wow' at all and it's not cheap. I had asked for a glass of red with my meal, which never came. At this level this shouldn't be attention to detail, but attention to the basics and it was not particularly busy.

The isolation in the room from the door is not so good as it should be. advantage was that there were not so much people at that time.

The place is absolutely perfect! Everything was beautiful and clean, and the entire resort is so big and full of facilities that we didn't feel the need to even travel outside. The staff was very nice and attended to everything we needed. They made us feel like we were the only guests at the hotel. I highly recommend it!! The best stay we ever had!

Gorgeous grounds.

Pillows were hard and synthetic. The food was very average for Italy and the portion sizes were tiny and prices way to high. The wine menu, particularly by the glass, was minimal.
