This hotel is in a great location in the city center of Monterosso, only a 10 minute walk from the train station. The European buffet style breakfast was served promptly each morning at 07:30 and there was a selection of hot items (precooked scrambled eggs, bacon), as well as a variety of pastries, toaster, yogurts, etc. The room and bathroom were very large, with a desk and sofa. We had a corner room so the glass doors opened onto two small balconies. The hotel trash cans were located directly outside our window, but the hotel kept the area clean and neat. Our room faced an open field with a dilapidated building on one side, that may or may not have been under construction. It was not something over which the hotel had control, but it definately discouraged sitting outside for the view. One door opened into a private space with a chaise lounge. The staff were courteous, answered questions, and provided information about local restaurants, etc., Often there was no one at the hotel desk during the day, and we were never greeted when we came down for breakfast in the morning or when entering or leaving the hotel.

The air conditioning in the room was not functioning properly. Fortunately the weather was mild so we ended up opening the balcony doors and allowing a cool breeze cool the room. There was a problem with the hot water. The first night the water was only slightly warm; and the next morning the water was nice and hot. We thought maybe the problem was temporary, but the problem persisted throughout our stay. The season was just getting started, so these may have just been temporary issues.
