Locanda Il Carugio

The property is beautiful, perched on the cliffs of Corniglia with sweeping views. Elegant design in every aspect. The building is gorgeous. There is an inside common room for use and breakfast; also several terraces. We had breakfast on the terrace! The owners have thought of everything to make a stay wonderful in all sorts of little details from a delicious breakfast to including laundry soap and a little drying rack for washing out small clothing items, to having dishes available for take away meals. The owner lent me his hiking poles and guided us in planning our hikes. The also lent us a very good hiking map and guide book.

Nothing to dislike, everything was wonderful! We loved our stay and loved Corniglia!

the location was stunning with as terrace overlooking the hills and ocean. Breakfast was superb with special choice every day including lovely croissants and other choices. Gianpaolo and his sister were lovely and nothing was too much trouble, we will definitely be returning. Superb location in the middle village of Corniglia.

Breakfast was excellent, and it was a great location. A little removed from the main town centre so very quiet, but very quick and easy to get to the centre and to the train. The room was modern and extremely comfortable. Gianpaolo could not have been a better host!

The room was big,clean and welcoming. There was a fridge and two bottles of water each day. The tv was a smart one so simply logging in to view your favourite shows. The room had a balcony and sun roof. Both these features were designed to enjoy the tremendous scenery. There is car parking available and a wheelchair lift but we did not use it. The station was a short walk from the property. The breakfasts were amazing. Simply delicious. There was a great choice.

This is a small guesthouse, with three rooms of different sizes, in a newly renovated building, with a high level of finishing touches. The property is owned and managed by Giulia and her brother Gian Paolo. Giulia cooks the delicious breakfasts. There is a rooftop with space to read, sunbathe, watch the sun rise over the mountain, and eat breakfast. The service is personal and friendly. Gian Paolo provided up-to-date information about the footpaths, the weather, timetables, etc. We learned what these siblings did before they opened Locanda Il Carugio, about their family that lives across the road and more.

We didn’t turn out to be the great hikers we thought we were. This property is a 15-20 minute uphill walk from the train station, with a spotty shuttle van service from the train station to the village center. However, since this guesthouse is actually on the way to the town center, if one is walking, the walk isn’t as long as it might have been.

It was in a beautiful setting. We hiked into Vernazza on a few occasions and enjoyed the scenery on the terrace of the hotel.

We were there during the off season and there weren’t too many restaurants open in Corniglia. Also, the hotel room was cold occasionally and there was no heater but the cold period wasn’t long; it was rare.

Fantastic location with a welcoming, friendly, and warm hosts. Locanda il Carugio is very near the center of Corniglia as well as excellent restaurants and a very short walk to the train station. There is a beautiful terrace to overlook the Ligurian Sea. The breakfast is also outstanding!

Breakfast was very fresh, delicious and fresh squeezed orange juice was so refreshing! The room was in the excellent condition and the location is walking distance to the town and train station. The owners came to greet and we really felt comfortable in their newly built building! The views from the breakfast areas are stunning. We had a such wonderful time and definitely will be back!

Where to begin...so many good things! Gianpaolo and family were so friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, the room was spacious and comfortable and clean, and the views from the terrace were stunning. This was our favorite place we stayed at for our honeymoon!

No complaints! Such an amazing place, we will go back one day. Grazie a Gianpaolo e sua familia!
