Hotel Idania

Four nights with TUI - couldn't say no to the deal! Spacious, modern hotel, bright and relaxed lounge/bar areas on ground floor, an outdoor "lido" area with pool, and sizeable breakfast buffet. The building looks a little boxy from the front but the side, the main entrance shows off its character better, with landscaping and an attractive lobby area. Strengths: substantial buffet breakfast options (including bacon and eggs for British/Irish travellers info); rooms quite sizeable for Italy; quite large pool (about 18m long) so you can actually swim; friendly staff; very handy location just across the main road from the old town, and about 300m from a supermarket and 100m from the bus station; clean and well kept; most rooms with balcony (spacious!) and aircon; lift to all floors including pool area; step-free access; quiet inside the hotel. Weaknesses: The hotel is right by the main road, so expect a little traffic noise. I was street-side and it didn't bother me at all, but then I live in a city and am used to some ambient noise. No in-room coffee/tea facilities (norm in some countries, unheard of in others). Road outside contains Italian drivers. :D Tips: If you arrive with TUI, note the drop-off/pick-up point is about a three-minute walk down the road at the bus station (was until recently outside the hotel but not now allowed). Near, but you may need assistance if you have mobility issues. Also, though Idania's own website mentions all rooms have balcony and and aircon, that is for direct bookings. This is NOT necessarily the case with TUI - I may have been upgraded, not sure. Rooms have blinds which I'd suggest leaving shut during the day to cut out the heat; these are not quite blackout though for any light sleepers. Local tax is €1 per night. Note for 2024: You may see comment about building across the road. By June 19th this is substantially completed and you won't notice noise from it any more than from the road. I really didn't notice it. Overall: I would stay here again - great hotel in a handy location in a great town. But I would be wary of getting a room between June-Sept unless inclusive of aircon as it would I think be rather hot at this time. I was charmed by Bardolino - I can see why some friends are return visitors: The difference with Bardolino compared with say Garda or Riva is the stunning sunsets and evening views, which you don't get on the east-facing or south-facing parts of the coast.

Great hotel in good location. Nice rooms. Great breakfast and staff were friendly & helpful.

My husband and I stayed here from 22nd May - 29th May 2024 for his 60th birthday. We were offered room 315 which was small, we asked to upgrade which was €140 to room 211. (Very clean room, although dated) The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Doriana and Giorgio and went the extra mile to plan and print out time tables for buses, ferries and trains.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and we are very satisfied. The room had everything we needed and the balcony was rather large. The breakfast that was included had everything we wanted. If we come back to Bardolino we will choose this hotel again for out stay.

It was a 3 *hotel ! We had a superior room with a balcony and it was clean & comfortable.l The staff were really friendly and the barman was very agreeable! Nothing was a bother ! The breakfast was quite repetitive but good . The coffee machine was temperamental and the cappuccino was ok sometimes but often had too much froth . Overall we thought his was a good place to stay !

This is a lovely clean hotel run by excellent staff. It is in an ideal quiet location only 5 minute walk to the Lake. We gad a good size room with separate bathroom, cubicle shower with hot powerful water. Plenty of choice for breakfast which the excellent staff always kept replenished. Our bathroom was cleaned every day, bed made tidy and always given clean towels. Hotel had a great bar run by an efficient friendly bar staff. Cannot fault this hotel in any way and all the staff are a credit to the hotel!

Arrived today in 30 degree sun shine . The hotel is lovely . Room has a good size balcony . May be on the small side but clean and functional . Great views of the mountains. Very easy to walk into town with lots of great restaurants. Sure we will enjoy our two weeks exploring the lake . Great place to stay that’s honest and great value . Little road noise but plends into the back ground . Looking forward to trying the pool it looks inviting.

Mixed bag for this hotel really. Let’s go with the positives first, the hotel is ideally situated, within a 4/5 minutes walk to Bardolino town centre, bus depot & bank. The staff are friendly & so helpful. The pool area is clean & we didn’t have any problems getting a sun bed. It’s spotlessly clean. Breakfast was served between 7.30-11, never struggled to get a table & the food was decent, but basic Negatives, it’s situated on a main, very busy road. The pool area is at the front of the hotel, so it’s very noisy with traffic all day. Our room, 204, was situated on the side, but even that was noisy. The rooms are dated & grotty. The bathroom was ridiculous, the door banged onto the shower. The shower cubicle is so tiny that whenever you turned round you switched the shower off. We had one working plug socket in the entire room which was situated by the door. Useless for trying to dry hair or charge phones etc. we upgraded to a superior room, so goodness knows what you get with a standard. We did have zircon which was a bonus, although it made a rattly noise, which was irritating. If you want a good centrally located, clean hotel, this is for you, however if you want peace & quite to relax & a decent room I’d stay away from this hotel.
