Over Mountains Hotel

This family run establishment is not rated as a 5-star hotel but definitely deserves a 5 star rating review. A very friendly, helpful and service oriented place to stay. They really did make you feel as if you were a part of the family. The son gave us many trust worthy tips and advices for the Petra sites (the Treasury, the Monastery, the tombs, the trails and etc…). Breakfast is always ready for the time that we specified. Since we stayed for 4 nights, the owner (father) invited us to their home for a family dinner. It gave us a peek into the typical life of a Jordanian family. We tasted traditional dishes and had desserts over tea and coffee. We chatted about life in Jordan and played a game with his grown up children. We are touched by their openness and kindness. Although, the accommodation is not up to the North American standards, the Over Mountains Hotel deserves a high rated review for its services and friendliness. We’ll recommend this hotel to our family and friends.

The bathroom is small as not as North American standard.

Comfy rooms with all the amenities. Not to mention the host and son were so great and so was his son.

The host couple is very welcoming and kind. The hotel is clean, with hot water available, and the breakfast is excellent.

Very comfortable room with it’s own toilet. Spacious as advertised

Room and bed were clean and very comfortable. The Host Ahmad was extremely helpful and accommodating and kind.

Bath tub a little small.

The bed was very comfortable, the room was cozy. The host was communicative and helpful, he shared tips about where to eat and how to arrange a fair price for transportation. The place is relaxing, quiet, and good for resting - home atmosphere.

The location is far from the main entrance to Petra, you need to take a taxi and negotiate with the taxi drivers. The cleanliness has room for improvement - we have found several hairs in the towels and in the bedsheets. There was no toilette paper nor soap for hands or shower gel. The breakfast was okay even though there were limited options - we would have appreciated basics as milk, for example.
