Hotel Shikinoyakata Hakone Ashinoko

The customer service was excellent. The staff tried extremely hard to speak with me in English. The in-room and spa facilities were exceptional. A lot of attention went towards the French dinner. Very thankful for the hotel car pick up at Odawara!

Understanding the public transportation schedule would have been helpful - but not a showstopper.

Incredible views, clean and high quality lodging, in room bath on balcony and Onsen is a standout

Compared to other 4 star ryokans, the Kaeseki dinner was not particularly memorable or flavourful (in any good way at least). Overall I would say both nights were quite was bland and the ingredients appeared sad/low quality. In particular, the grilled beef course prepared on the second night was grisly and unpalatable. Breakfast was somewhat better, albeit simple (bread, eggs, fruit).

Incredible facilities in room and inclusions were very high end

Staff were difficult to speak to with limited English. The food was good but not incredible given price. Its difficult to get to. Only supplied 1 small bottle of water for entire stay. No access to other food outside of what was served at dinner despite still being hungry.
