Hotel Tuscania Panoramico

I have to say this was a disappointment at first, however the staff and the beauty of a view room overlooking historic Tuscania made up for any shortcomings. The rooms are basic, TV small, patio very large, but not very private. The rooms were large but well used, however very neat and clean, with basic soaps and the like. The AC did not appear to work in the room, it blew air but certainly was not cold. Only breakfast was served, very European, but very plain and good, with the room and any evening dining had to be done in town , but after 8 PM so prepare yourself for a long wait for your dinner hour. The staff were very helpful and courteous at all times. It is a typical old 60's hotel I would guess, but an excllent location to explore the Etruscan tombs which dot the area, and a very short 1/2 hr.drive to Tarquinia and its vast Etruscan museum and painted tombs a short drive from the museum.

Not the place to take your spouse on a romantic holiday, thin walls, basic furniture, poorly decorated. In compensation it is clean, the staff are very friendly and it is cheap. Avoid a room on the road because it is noisy; breakfast offered a modest selection but perfectly normal at these prices. Wifi in my room didn't work, but in the lobby was fine.

This until can no longer have the rating of ONE of 6 in Tuscania, or indeed its 3 star. There is no longer a restaurant (it is closed). The bar sitting area has been turned into a creche for the children of the family that now seems to run the hotel. The local dogs sleep during the hot days and bark all night. Local teenagers seem to do the same And the local traffic comes out at night. So, this means you have to shut windows and balcony doors and turn on the not so quiet air conditioning to try and get some sleep. Really not worth the money.
