Hotel San Martin La Punta

Pool area is nice, location is central, hot water and good pressure, nice soap and lotion. Good for one night or two maximum.

No working wifi at all during stay, very loud music playing next door until 11pm, no filtered water available (even to purchase), no hand soap, mattress was broken - my body sank through to the wood under the mattress - which I have never experienced in a hotel before - and I am not obese

I'm fully aware it's a 2-star hotel, however every hotel should meet a couple very basic standards. Being able to properly sleep is one of them. You can absolutely forget about that at San Martin. Even though I was on the top floor (only room there), every evening there was such loud music & bass from a bar next door. The walls were so thin it was like sleeping in a club. 'Luckily' most of it stopped around 12. Until then i slept with earplugs AND noise cancelling headphones on... After the first night i asked the receptionist about it but she said it was only on weekend days & due to Day of the dead. Not true, it's every night! One evening there was even some kind of party on the rooftop next to my room, lots of people passing by and talking all night. I really considered moving hotels but already spent my money on this. Besides that: the mattresses of the beds are broken, i had 2 beds and both had a big 'hole' in the mattress. The hotel itself looks nice, great pool and rooms are generally neat. Location is perfect, walking distance to everything. Got new towels once every other day, although i wonder if they every changed the sheets. As i recognised some stains. One lady at the reception was nice, helped me carry my suitcase and checked when I wanted my room cleaned. There were 2 other girls who seemed to be just hanging around there and using the pool themselves, a bit strange to me. Overall, to me not worth the money unfortunately.

The ladies on reception were so friendly and welcoming. The location was great (on main strip in La Punta, close to bars and beach - keep in mind it will be loud until 1am because of this so bring earplugs). The room was basic but comfortable. This isn't luxury accommodation and if that's what you are after then it's probably best to go elsewhere as you will not find it here. When you have realistic expectations, this place has everything you need to be comfortable. It has air con and a fan that worked really well to keep the room cool. There was a lovely pool which was great after being out in the heat. There was plenty of hammocks and seating to relax. I personally prefer a firmer bed and slept well here. It's not quite Thai level of hard but it's definitely similar! I didn't use the bar/ restaurant downstairs but there is one available. Enjoyed having the beach so close by.

I didn't like how wobbly my door handle was and how it would come off the bracket from the lock. It was rather tricky to lock it from time to time. The lady called someone out to look at this promptly but it still was challenging. Asian style bathroom (will wet room when taking a shower), I didn't mind but some people might dislike it. Also, it's not just a hotel only thing but people should note wi-fi is difficult to come by in Puerto Escondido in general so be aware. The bar next to the hotel had wi-fi that worked to some degree throughout the duration of my stay so would recommend going in there for a meal to get code then you will have at least something, though of course it won't be the best connection. I loved being able to switch off for a while 😊

We love this property! Although small, the room was very cutely decorated. The shower, a.c., and Wi-Fi worked perfectly, allowing me to keep up with my work while travelling and then enjoy a lovely swimming pool and a walk to the beach. The sheets and towels were fresh and clean. The location was extremely convenient for shopping, going dancing, and dining. At night, we had quite a restful sleep. I want to go back already. Me gusto que es muy tranquilo, agradable y limpio. Lo que no me gusto es que el estacionamiento es pequeño y si esta lleno tienes que dejar tu carro afuera.
