Buena Vista Surf Club

A personable place to stay in a lovely location. Not a hotel feeling at all but much more homelike and calm. Meals are taken "family" style and are prepared by very capable, and friendly, local staff. Great, spacious cabanas in the forest give you lots of privacy when you want it. Great help with arrangements of any kind of activity...and of course surfing is one of them. I met my daughter here because she wanted to surf. She got a strong recommendation to go to BVSC by her friend who has a yoga studio back in Canada and has done a group yoga retreat here with exceptional results. My daughter and I both had plenty to do, together and separately as we liked. It turned out to be a perfect location for our meetup. Thanks Johnny, Michele and everyone at BVSC!

Staying at Buenavista Surf Club was an amazing experience, the food, views and the most kindest, helpful host Michele made it all worth while. You will get the most delicious breakfast here at Buenavista, they had everything you could imagine, crepes, scrambled eggs, homemade bread, fresh fruits with granola, yogurt, smoothies, gallo pinto, grilled plantains, bacon, and the best coffee. And this was every morning, we were always full even by lunchtime. And the dinners were just as good with great variety. Sleeping above the trees was not only amazing but the comfort of the beds made made for a peaceful night. The main area is very comfortable, and you can chill and enjoy the view. Getting to the beach was very easy, a 5 minute walk down the road and you also have 5 restaurants to choose from if you get hungry. I will be back next year, for sure!!!!

My ladyfriend and I spent 12 days at BVSC in the beginning of the rainy season. Truly, I can't say enough about how much joy we found. Johnny G runs the place. He's courteous, thoughtful and hilarious--he's also a man who knows how to get things. So don't worry if you don't show up prepared for sweltering heat or a deluge of rain... which can be the weather cycle in a single day. Also, Johnny G will help you plan your adventures; horseback riding, surfing (boats and trips) and where to head next if you're on tour. Natasha, who comes to BVSC everyday, teaches yoga. I've got lots of broken body parts and aged injuries... all I can say is that she gets it, and she'll guide you to fix yourself. A special shoutout to Aidaly, who runs the cocina (her pancakes are worth requesting) and she gives excellent massages on the premises. I had a massage every third day! And as far as the political instability in Nica. It's real. That said, the people welcome you and appreciate that you're traveling to their home during this uncertain time. At not time did I feel unsafe. Also, I speak Spanish and made an effort to understand what's up. You should too! Lastly, know that when you stay at BVSC, you are in the hands of people who know and love NICA. That means everything. You'll see.

We had a great stay at BVSC. The host and the staff were very friendly and the was an excellent vibe with the other guests. The cabanas were very clean, comfortable and great for relaxing. The shared home style breakfast was a great start to the day and a wonderful way to interact with the other guests. It's a perfect place to go to relax and surf!

I decided to travel solo and spent 8 days in BVSF in mid-May. I had truly one of the best weeks of my life. Johnny who runs the hotel is very kind and knows everyone in Nicaragua. He is very mindful and makes sure everything is ok with everyone. Natasha, the yoga teacher, was awesome and a very good teacher. The hotel is very close to the beach and in the middle of the jungle. Very cool to hear the howlers at night. The hotel is also very clean and each little cabana is simple but tasteful. The main deck is awesome and has a very cool view of the beach and the break. Playa Maderas is a great beach break. Its surfable basically all day although high tide is the best. Its sand bottom so it isn't dangerous or sketchy. Overall, I would love to go back and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.The entire staff was super friendly and the food was simple and good. I can't wait to go back !

Buena Vista was absolutely stunning. It has very clean, comfortable and relaxing cabanas and common areas. Very close to the beach and has amazing views. Sophie is an amazing host and is super accommodating.This place is a hidden gem, the perfect getaway, 10/10 will go back and would recommend.

We, wanted to get surf courses, wanted to relax, wanted to get disoriented from our boring, or too normal, day to day habits. We've been astonished by the view of the pacific from the marvelous deck, happy of the tranquility & the security of the BVSC. It's a zen place, where you'll get served fantastic and tasteful plates ! Our host, Sophie, was so sweet & zen. She was always available to answer our questions and took time to sit with us to discuss about the region. The surf teacher referred by BVSC was really professional, and gave us really good technical and helpfull advices. Thank you Sophie for all of that, BVSC is lucky to have you in the place ! I highly recommend this place to anybody who already know Nicaragua, or anybody who wants to discover a part of it. Pedro Lucas

When I booked with BVSC, I hadn't done any research and didn't expect much. To my delight, every single thing about the place surpassed any expectations I could have had! The hotel is expertly laid out, all understated natural woods and open vistas. The view is magical, but I don't think any of the photos online do it justice. The beach, which is only about 7 minutes away seems perfectly close and also just far enough away. After only about 15 minutes on the deck at BVSC I was in full vacation mode. My private tree-house (as I came to think of it) was open to the forest around it. This was cool when it came to watching the baby howler monkeys play in the branches at arms reach; a little more intimidating when it came to the creepy crawler fauna. Fortunately Sophie, the ever-gracious host, offered to look after any spiders, and I knew she was serious. And best of all, I didn't have to take her up on it. Sophie was a gem in other ways too; always around to answer a question or offer a story, but with such a light touch that I often felt blissfully alone with the birds. The food was amazing; fresh and varied. Just thinking about the breakfasts of mixed fruit, homemade granola, eggs, rice and beans and smoothies still makes my mouth water. On my last night, Sophie organized a party for my friends and me, complete with a ceviche dinner and a pinata! I can hardly wait for my return visit to Chill Town!
