I stayed at the hotel for nearly a week on a work trip. With six years in the hospitality industry, here’s my review: Ambiance: The high-ceilinged entrance exudes elegance. The pool seems a bit dated but is still suitable for swimming. I didn’t use the gym. Wi-Fi: Adequate for remote work. However, my husband had issues playing high-demand online games like Dota. Breakfast: Disappointing. We paid ₱1,600 for two, as online bookings through platforms like Booking.com don’t include breakfast due to discounted rates. The limited food choices were underwhelming; the eggplant was tasty, but I’m allergic. The Spanish sardines seemed canned, and the waffles weren’t good. For ₱800 per person, the selection was minimal and unsatisfying. Dinner: Overall, the food was delicious; breakfast was the only letdown. Room: At night, when it’s very quiet, you can subtly hear other guests in adjacent rooms. Customer Service: 8/10. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, especially housekeeping. The front desk needed two reminders for my request, but overall, service was satisfactory. Overall, it’s a pleasant place to stay, with nearby restaurants and a quiet environment suitable for walks. Improvements are needed, particularly regarding breakfast, but I plan to return, hoping for enhancements in that area.

Well appointed, quiet neighborhood

Far from CBD, but this was also an advantage…

Sotogrande Hotel albeit suprised me in a lot of ways. The hotel reception and lobby with a high ceiling is quite fascinating and impressive. It gives a welcoming vibe and preview of a good stay. The check-in was efficient and got the rooms in no time. The rooms had standard amenities, comfy bed with extra pillows which I truly appreciate. I had a well rested sleep from my two days stay here. The restroom is well maintained and had nice bath tub with anti-slipping mat. Gym and swimming pool access at UG is nice. I used it couple of times without a hitch. Breakfast had decent option. I had choose pay by breakfast. The longanisa set is great! Only downside is very weak Wifi at rooms. I was unable to connect at all. Until I went at their lobby and had secured a connection there. They should address this seriously. Overall, my not so good impression due to reading from other reviews had change 180 degrees. Until I experienced it myself. I would say, its a hidden gem and nice hotel to stay in Davao.
