Don't recommend a room next to the elevator and mechanical room. Got loud at about 6:30am.

Didn't know a breakfast was included. Fireplace non functional.

Nice hotel

I thought the hotel was a good value for the one night I stayed there. I liked the close proximity to Mountaineer Square and the Lodge at Mountaineer Square (sister properties). The Square is quite nice with outdoor seating, some shops, and cute little bar known as, The Bar Above, and a coffee shop. I thought Max, who helped me get checked-in was a great help; sweet young man and personable. I liked the shape of my room because the light from living room area was was obscured by the shape of the room making it feel more private. I liked the kitchenette and supplies in the kitchenette. It was a nicely furnished room; plenty of seating and plenty of electrical outlets for cell phones and computers to charge. Nice view from my room too.

It was unclear where the front door was. You enter from the Gothic St to a side entrance. I walked around the building to the street side but it wasn't the main entrance either. It turned out the main entrance was between the Grand Lodge and the Lodge at Mountaineer Square. Who knew? There was not enough staff! I had to wait a couple of times for things I needed (I have an injury and needed assistance) because there was no additional staff available to help me. It was confusing where to check in. There's not a front desk! I thought my bed was too hard and lopsided, rather, higher in the middle and the shower curtain had a mildew smell. I was cold but there was no additional or spare blanket. Two extra pillows but no blanket so I had to turn up the heat. There are a couple of 'bar' type restaurants but the lodges in that area are too far from quality restaurants and the drive, in the dark, with no street lights, to the restaurant part of the town was daunting especially in the rain. AND PARKING IS A NIGHTMARE IN THE DINING AREA OF TOWN! I had to ask where things were in the hotel. It would have been nice if the sole person in the office had the time, while trying to get guests checked-in, to direct me (guests) to the breakfast area, pool, etc.... I had to hear from another hotel that what I thought was an outdoor pool actually was an indoor/outdoor pool. I didn't used the facility because I thought it was too cold outside for the pool. They need more staff but the staff I did experience was quite nice and helpful. I guess gone are the days of exceptional staffing and service. It's just not possible when running an entire hotel on a shoestring staff so shareholders can have big profits. Disappointed but decent stay.
