Dafong Hotel

Good location within the Hotel Area of Alishan park. Walking distance to the restaurants, 7-11 and shops. Very close to the Visitor Centre and shuttle bus station for the buses that can take you to places within the park. Very clean, modern room - look recently renovated. Good hot water for the shower (may need to run it a little longer in the morning). Breakfast vouchers for a breakfast buffet at a small restaurant in the small township are provided. No fridge in the room but there is a communal refridgerator near reception. Room was quiet and warm enough - particularly with the provided heated blankets. Elevator in hotel so you don't need to carry luggage upstairs.

Location is about a 15 to 20 minite walk from the bus and train station with a lot of stairs - but this is for all of the hotels in this area. Luggage can be stored at the station and you can take smaller luggage to the hotel with you instead if you don't want to carry your larger bags.

This was the only place available when I booked. It’s an average hotel that is overpriced because of the location. The staff was nice enough. Breakfast was fine, Chinese style.

There wasn’t any hot water when we came back from our hike around 2 pm. Staff said we had to wait 20 minutes because hot water wasn’t used much at that time. They made us stand humiliatingly in the lobby (with a driver waiting) while they “checked our room” before we left. The pillows and beds are nothing that comfortable.

Hotel was in the middle of Alishan National Park. It made our trip there more relaxing as we could take our time to walk through the different hikes in 2 days. The room was nice and big. Shower pressure was good and strong.

Walls were thin and the bed was really hard. But they weren’t dealbreakers because we were exhausted by the end of the day so we could sleep easily once we were woken up.

Excellent location. So glad we stayed in this area. So easy to go straight into the park and catch the train. Great places to eat very close by. Water dispenser on every floor which was really useful. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean.
