More water in the room would have been nice.

Their location is pretty good, it’s just next to the suspension bridge. Another thing let us excited is their home-made dinner, you could have Makino bamboo shoot, Rice in Lotus Leaf, bird-nest fern and balsam pear. You need to stay and order those dishes at that hotel exactly. The other thing is their hot spring is next to the suspension bridge, you could have a good sightseeing on the river valley.

The hotel is quite dated and could do with an upgrade but the views are great if you get a room with a river view facing the mountains, rivers and bridge. There is a sulphur smell from the water (rotten eggs) but I think that comes from the hot springs. You can make use of the hotel's outdoor bath or book a private inside bath for an additional fee. We did both and the water was warm and very relaxing. The outdoor bath was in the region of 40 - 42 degrees while you can choose to fill your private bath with the mixture of hot spring water and cold water to your liking if you hire a private bath. Although our room did have a hot tub it wasn't used because it was small, designed for one person (not couples) looked old and a little dirty. Breakfast is adequate and plentiful with the staff constantly checking on whether selections needed refilling. There is also an option for an evening meal for a fee of 400 TWD per person during our stay. The food selection is Chinese but there are English labels on the food and there is normally an English speaker on reception. The hotel doesn't have its own car park though so you have yo make use of off street parking.

房間太老舊了，非常不乾淨，窗戶的紗窗都是蜘蛛網。下午茶根本是騙人的。 谷關風景不錯，只是房間又舊又髒。 The room is old，smelly, and filthy. major sanitizing issue, room windows got lots of spider webs. Gu Kuan has nice scenery. Worth of visiting. But I definitely don't recommend this hotel. This is more like a one-star hotel, rather than three.

It's a clean hotel with traditional style and the view of the mountain and bridge is wonderful. We spent time relaxing ourselves in hot spring and also there's Guguan Shaolai Trail you can go hiking. It's a great one and not so challenging, but the mountain view is definitely wonderful.

My bad again, been procrastinating this review since my visit in Mar’17! ^^ Especially engaged a driver to ferry me to Ku Kuan for a day due to the limited time in Taichung city. Did not stay in the hotel but went for the hot spring tub (Tangwu) soaking for an hour. Used the room with the name “Sunset” and had a magnificent view of the valley. There is a cold & hot tub and I tried the hot tub only. Felt very refreshed after the soak as the hot water relieved my aching feet from the long walking! Bathing facilities is just right outside the Tangwu for cleaning up after the soak and it’s very convenient. The room even comes with bottled water and hot water with Coffee & Tea sachet to relax after the soak. Nice touch ^^ Glad I had made this trip as I love hot spring and was unable to use them freely on my Japan trips due to my tattoos! :(
