Northern Pearl

It was at the mid point to trips to Kidepo. A good stopping point to break up the trip from Kampala Did like the room had AC.

Cleaning could have been better. The bathroom could have used a good scrubbing.

Staff were accomodating for any issues that arose, breakfast was served on time, located in a gated safe area od rown, convenient to cafes, shops, petrol station. Great stop as a half way to Kidepo from kampla.

The breakfast was simple. We both had a fried egg and a piece of toast. There was a very basic buffet with a few bowls with cut fruit - pineapple and watermelon - and coffee - we could make instant coffee with nescafe, hot water and hot milk. We had a dinner in the restaurant and the food we chose- Indian -was nice. The bed was very comfortable and had a mosquito net and the pavilion we stayed in was quiet, so we had a good night sleep. The Wifi worked fine.

The bathroom, although spacious, did not have a clear instruction as to how to work the water heater, which we thought simply did not work. We decided to shower cold, which was fine for us. However it appeared to be very difficult for staff to find two towels for us. We just had a tiny small towel and were given one bigger one later. Some of the staff members were obviously not happy with their job.

The rooms where nice little huts and the seating in the restaurant upstairs is amazing.

The shower didn’t have cold so you could only get it cold (not turning it on) or scorching hot. The restaurant didn’t have the “chef specials” or “signature dish”. Curry’s all tasted the same.

We traveled with students for a school project. The stay at Northern Pearl was in one word: AMAZING. We were warmly welcomed at the hotel, even though we arrived really late in the evening. The rooms are well-sized with really nice beds. The rooms were clean as well. They have lot of things to do at the hotel: darts, a pooltable and a karaoke set. The students really enjoyed their time here. Also good to mention is the food: we had a really nice diner with different options to try from, and all of them were finger-licking good! The hotel has a wall around it, with 4 guard dogs and a guard. This made us feel really safe.

If you are afraid of dogs, that might be a bit of a thing. But the dogs are only out at night and they check very well if everyone is in their room. The owner told us the dogs are friendly. But we had some students who are afraid of all dogs, so they made very sure to double check if there was no dog around. This is the only 'negative' thing I can think of. But on the other hand it is positive as it made us feel really safe that there were the dogs at night.
