"A quirky but fun, inexpensive and convenient hotel."

We loved our stay at the Cable Car Hotel in Knob Hill, San Francisco! We're kind of quirky people, and this is a quirky little hotel. We paid a bit extra for an ensuite bathroom (each floor has washrooms and bathrooms for the hostel-like rooms). The staff were all friendly and helpful. The place is an older Knob Hill house, but it's clean and comfy. BEST PARTS? A wonderful vegan cafe (Nourish) less than a minute's walk away on Hyde. A Trader Joe's kitty corner. A friendly pub next door for a quick drink after a long day at our conference. A half hour walk to the Moscone Convention Center. And, of course, it's right on a cable car route. We highly recommend Cable Car Hotel to anyone who prefers funky to concrete box.

Depending on who's staying there, it might not be the quietest night's stay, but the noise (it was happy noise) settled down in time for a good night's sleep. The elevator was out of order, so confirm that it's working if it's important to you.
