Picture this. 12- 40ish yr old mom friends who planned and booked a getaway back in April for an Oct. stay. A treasured time to spend together away from our incredibly busy lives of juggling our professional careers, children, husbands, pets, households etc. A time to completely let loose, have fun, laugh, and leave our worries behind. We chose The Port because of its beautifully decorated rooms, with enough space to house us all, it's desirable proximity to restaurants, bars, shops and the St. Croix. In fact The Port is DIRECTLY across the street from Scabs- a local dive bar that boasts live music with outdoor bands, filled inside & out with adults drinking and partying long into the early morning hours- which you can hear clear as day in your room. In fact The Port is within a block of pretty much all the bars in town, plus the backyard liquor store! The walls of The Port are very thin, so there is very little privacy from your neighbors or outdoor noise, especially the loud train that frequently runs through the town.ย
The Port was very desirable to our group as it clearly advertises that "parties are allowed" and "a great place for girls/guys weekends". We booked The Port for Thurs, Fri and Sat. To our surprise and excitement, we found out the annual Flood Run motorcycle ride was coming to Prescott that Sat. It is a wonderful charity event that filled the street in front of The Port with hundreds of top of the line, beautifully loud motorcycles with fabulous riders. Reving bikes, live bands, people celebrating and having the best time, filled the whole day Sat from sun up to well beyond sun down. We heard every motorcycle, laugh, word being said outside The Port (starting at 6am Sat morning) but did not let it bother us, we enjoyed that others were having a great time too!!ย
Mysteriously we had no problem Thurs or Fri, but for a little more than 1 hr on Sat from about 730p-845p we were, according to Megan the owner of The Port, the worst humans she has ever encountered, even though she has never met any of us. As you can see from other reviews we were charged an extra $400 for "being loud". This $400 was our security deposit that was for damages (this is stated in the rental agreement and says nothing about noise.) Summarizing- we were gone all day Sat. We came back to The Port for that short time to get ready for the night out. Our mistake, that we fully admitted to and apologized for, was leaving a door open to the room we were meeting in prior to heading out again. We were having a blast, laughing, and talking loud with some walking between rooms- so with the door open and the thin walls I 100% believe and can understand we were disruptive to other guests. The problem is no one came and said a word to us in that short time. We would have gladly quieted down and shut the door. Instead we were threatened by Megan over the phone. No warning, no civil conversation telling us we were being loud. Only a proven lie that she had called the police on us. There is no record of this. Besides that 1hr, there were no other issues. Megan sent us the video proof of us being "horrible humans" which showed us walking in the halls, laughing, and talking loud. I am asking Megan now to please post these videos in your inevitable rebuttal, full of lies and exaggeration, to this review. I would also ask AGAIN to show proof the other guests left and a refund was given. One of the couples checked in at 6p when we were leaving, and supposedly checked out 3hrs later? The story doesn't quite add up. But it's not surprising Megan would lie about this too. If they actually left, was it because of 1hr of us being loud, or more likely a combination of that 1hr plus the extremely loud block party, 100s of bikers, live bands, hooting and hollering that was happening at the same time.
Megan will write something grossly false misrepresenting us in response to this. And also apparently delete this review, like she has the others. As we were warned by several locals she is deceitful, conniving, and incredibly greedy. Our lawyer has written a very professional request for proof and a response, which she refuses to give.ย
I urge you to stay away from The Port for girls weekends as advertised, but more importantly stay away from Megan!
