Excellent experience, nice campus, very friendly staff

Food quality needs to improve

I stayed at the Fern as I was visting a friend in DIU. The Fern was the only available highly rated hotel in the area, which was important for health and safety reasons. The cabins/rooms were novel and unique. They looked nice and had good space and amenities. Staff were helpful and prompt when requests were made, for example, for additional toiletries. The venue was in a good location and was well maintained. The air con worked well, which was especially useful in the heat and humidity that occurred when I was there! The spa was also good, with talented staff.

In terms of things that could be improved: 1) The availability of dietary options across meals. There was not even any non-dairy milk available at breakfast. Similarly, items could have been labelled a lot better on buffets and menus, e.g., Vegan options. 2) The constant music from the speakers on the grass was frustrating. There was no way to even turn individual ones off near one's cabin. This was especially annoying when I was trying to rest in the morning or during a hot afternoon. I thought, at first, it may have been other residents having parties again as some annoyingly were, late at night. But, that was a separate issue.
