Tattva Ubud Retreat & Wellness

The place was quiet and relaxing, good pool and space for yoga down the river. We hadn’t booked any yoga class or messages as their massage room is quite small. We were actually interested in a more high end Spa close by. Good experience overall!

There was a small construction site close to the property, but that didn’t interfere to our sleep or general experience.

Beautiful views over the jungle, morning yoga twice a week - beginner-friendly as well. The swimming pool was nice and staff very helpful. Overall, felt really private and romantic. Easy to meditate and dissolve in spirituality.

Less than impressed with my stay. The room was fine and while I understand there will be insects in a remote location (ants everywhere), there was tile missing in the bathroom and pretty significant damage to other areas. The biggest issue I have with the property is that they **ignored my food allergy** and in doing so I ended up with a terrible reaction the day I was supposed to go on a dive trip. When it was brought to the hotel’s attention, they either didn’t respond or declined to offer any compensation for the inconvenience and derailment of plans. Beyond this, the Wi-Fi never worked while I was on property requiring me to pay for additional cell coverage and the supposed shuttle was not available either time I requested it. Photos of the property seem to be from a previous time.

Very disappointed with this hotel and do not recommend it. We don’t have incredibly high standards for hotels especially ones that are on the cheap end but we do expect our rooms to be cleaned and the amenities to look like their pictures. This hotel advertises itself to be very beautiful but we were shocked and incredibly disappointed to find the room to be dirty, bugs on the floor and in the bed, holes in the shower wall and floor, a dirty bath mat, damage and uncleanliness to baseboards. We asked the receptionist to clean the floor and change our bath mat. She ended up with a dust pan full of dirt and trash. We were so horrified we knew that our 4 night stay was not going to be worth it. We ended up finding a different hotel to stay at that night and for the reminder of our time in Ubud. Also the location was far from Ubud city center and in a place that taxis struggled to find. Don’t waste your time and money at this hotel.

The staff was friendly.

The bedding appeared unclean; the pillowcase was tented yellow and smelled as it had not been washed in a while. There was music playing until 11pm or so. We would have left to our next destination had we not arrived late in the evening.
