Pierre was an excellent host, the room was very spacious and clean, overlooking a very well tended garden and swimming pool. We had a very calm and relaxing stay in lovely Popenguine! Highly recommended:)

Había cucarachas (unas 15 pequeñitas que viéramos) en el dormitorio y ni con insecticida se fueron. Se escucha mucho el ruido de la calle y los rezos de madrugada

Excellente localisation. Environnement propre et verdoyant. Bel accueil du personnel.

Bâtiment à rafraîchir, escaliers de montée obstru et risqué pour les personnes âgées. Pas de télé dans les chambres et système de communication avec le service non fonctionnel.

Amabilitat del personal. Vam arribar molt tard per tempestes i ens van acollir molt bé. La ubicació és perfecta per una ràpida visita al centre de Dakar Els colors i el pati donen un aire fresc

There aren't too many choices in downtown Dakar and certainly nothing that comes across as a value so went with this place as it was just a night and cheaper than the rest. Based on the reviews I knew what to expect so there was no surprises or disappointment. Yes lots of reviews mention the morning mosque noise...the mosque really is smack adjacent to the property. The morning prayer woke me up at 4:46AM (!!) but I knew it was going to happen so no biggie. You would think the walls of the hotel would insulate the sound better but no. The windowless room was old and drab, just a couple decorating touches could really cheer things up. I did like the old feel of the place and the palms / foliage in the atrium, you can feel some history. I liked the location and the interesting walk from the train station through Old Dakar to the property. Check-in guy was very friendly.

Low value for what you're paying. The room has two sets of doors, the outer doors are slatted and the inner doors are glass but there's no curtain so you don't feel complete privacy and they won't insulate sound well (though things were quiet overall on my night aside from the mosque). The room had no window. It would have to be far cheaper than the 29,000 XOF for me to book this place again.

I really like the courtyard and the location. Staff was great, too!

I arrived at 3am in the morning. The room has a broken toilet and no hot water for showers. Apparently the switch for hot water was in the room door when I asked for repair the next day. For the toilet, at least it should be already repaired before any new guest arrives, no? There was a lot of noise in the morning. All of these—really can't say it is a pleasant stay.
