Seascale Hotel & Restaurant

Food and staff were excellent .

Tired property.Bed was very very soft. Too expensive for what it was.

The shower had very little pressure and the fixings were defective.

I thought the hotel personnel were very good, polite , happy and friendly. They were excellent. The room was a little small however it was adequate for my needs, being very clean and tidy (and kept like it by the attentive housekeeper.) The bed was comfy and I slept well. The view over the harbour from the bedroom was glorious. The breakfast was seriously tasty - very good and filling. Getting up in the morning and being a few yards away from the harbour and seafront for a walk before breakfast is very nice indeed. I would definitely give this hotel a thumbs up. well worth staying here.

I have to be honest and fair - I had an evening meal of "Sea bass a la Seascale", which was not good at all. It was edible but poor. I eat a lot of seafood so understand how it should be. The bass was too small to be line caught so it must have been farmed (size of a herring) and was overcooked. It came with Prawn and Scallop and it was, one prawn which was bouncy and the coral of a scallop, not a scallop at all. Potatoes should have been Jersey Royals at the price. The starter of prawn cocktail with avocado was so disappointing . The prawns were tiny, not nice and seemingly from a frozen pack . One slice of avocado completed the plate. Not good value for money at all. I am going to say that I did not complain as I do not like confrontation and I don't think this should have been served to me in the first place. No one at the hotel when I arrived at around 4pm and no one answered the phone. The Dolphin Hotel next door looked after my suitcase whilst I waited . I later found out that there is no one there between 3 - 6pm. There should be someone available to answer the phone at least .
