OMO5 Kyoto Gion by Hoshino Resorts

OMO5 was probably our favourite hotel during our Japan trip! The room was quirky & unique but clean, practical & modern. We appreciated having a big sofa in our room & the dimmable lighting throughout the bed area. Most importantly the beds were super comfortable, A/C effective & bathroom spot on. In terms of the staff, amenities & check-in/out experience everything was on point, the hotel even offered free tours/activities but we weren't able to take advantage of this. In terms of location you're right in the heart of Gion, so couldn't have been better!

The location was exceptional. The hotel is new and clean.

There was no window/ natural sunlight in our room which made our 4 night stay feel very claustrophobic. Our room type suggests it accommodates 6 people but I would not recommend booking it for more than 3. We booked and paid for a family of 5 but there were only three beds made up (futons). We had to make other beds ourselves on a space that doubles as a seat around a table. There was no water or coffee provided and whilst clean towels were provided daily and rubbish removed, there was no cleaning or bed making. I’m not sure what criteria this hotel passed to received a 4 star rating. I would have thought 3 at a maximum.

Such a very Cute hotel in Gion. We loved baking and having fresh bread in our room. They bought us beautiful tamari sushi. Look at the website -they have many activities and games in the lounge area. Many shops abound both sides of the street. We were amazed and happy. Staff was exceptional!

We have nothing negative to say.

Great location in the heart of Gion, super convenient transportation, places to eat and walk all around. Bed was comfortable and room was spacious... loved this hotel!

Nothing, it was the best hotel I've stayed in on this trip to Japan

Hotellet ligger rigtig godt blandt Gions levende gadeliv, mange butikker og templer. Hotellet er fint og hyggeligt. Værelset af en god størrelse, men dog lidt svært at være der med to større børn, da både sofa og bænk skal bruges som sovepladser, hvilket gør hele værelset ret kaotisk. Der er ikke meget plads til kufferter og tøj. Hyggeligt at bage sit eget brød og aften-teen er et rigtig fint indslag. Tror dog jeg ville foretrække at få serveret morgenmad en anden gang. Efter et par dage bliver man lidt træt af at lave sin egen morgenmad. Men alt i alt et godt og moderne hotel til prisen.

Really enjoyed our stay. Would be nice to have a morning temple and shrine walk in English.

Spacious room, laid out cool with different height areas, low bed and lounging space, kitchen with everything you might need. Unique offerings such as in room bread maker (you can request the ingredients along with a selection of traditional Japanese toppings for breakfast). Bathroom had separate toilet and a wet room style shower, in addition to a large bath tub. Staff very friendly/welcoming. Location great.

This place is a "class act". Beautifully decorated in a somewhat Japanese style with tatami mats and futon beds on the floor. Loved the teas supplied - need to find where they were sourced from :-) . The room was large with a separate living area and kitchen and centralised in the GION district.

Not a dislike as such. Just be aware that the beds are on the floor (on a raised platform) so some might find it difficult getting on/off bed.
