Friendly warm welcome, lovely room - lots of space, warm, very good shower and bath, lovely view of the church. Excellent breakfast, great food in the restaurant. We went walking from the guesthouse, loads of nearby walking paths in the dales

We did not stay because we did not get the room that we booked which was given to someone who stayed for a week apparently. We had read the reviews and based on those we booked a room at the back of the property which was going to be quieter than a room at the front. The room at the front overlooked a cobbled street which was noisy and passing cars made the windows rattle. The bed was described on Booking.com as extra-large but it turned out to be kingsize, i.e. 1.60m or 15 cm wider than a double bed; so not extra-large which I would consider to be super kingsize at 1.80m. Therefore it was very disappointing and we decided we would not stay and we drove home. 11 December 2025 I have now seen the reply by the hotel and strongly reject that I wrote toxic feedback, and the comments they made are uncalled for. I only write honest reviews, nor would I write a bad review for a minor problem. The fact is that we booked several weeks before our stay a small room at the back of the hotel (other reviewers said that it is quieter) with an extra-large bed which was described in our order confirmation as being 181- 210cm wide which is a super king size. This is important to us as we have a super king size bed at home and there is no point booking a room for the night if we don’t get any sleep because we are hanging onto the edge of the bed so not to fall out. So, yes, 20cm makes all the difference. The bed in the standard room that we booked was described as extra-large when we booked it but is now shown as large. All other double rooms still show their beds as being extra-large on the booking.com website. According to the hotel's website all double beds are king size (or queen size in the US) so not extra-large. So the comment in your reply that the room we booked ‘is also our smallest double room and would not have met their expectations with reference to bed size.’ is misleading since none of your rooms have extra-large beds.
