Excellent hotel in an abbey with friendly staff and very spacious rooms. Good quality buffet and choice of food.

Only slight niggle was the deep gravel car park for motorcycles.

Der Toilettenraum hätte ein eigenes Handwaschbecken verdient. Die Badewanne scheint nicht stabil und passt nicht in die ansonsten gute Ausstattung des Zimmers. Bitte durch eine Douche ersetzen.

The main building we stayed in is of historic interest and has spectacular views. Loved the association with the Leffe Brewery.

The interior heated up during the day and whilst the air conditioning was effective in the bedroom it was very noisy - needed earplugs to sleep.

La Merveilleuse is a beautifully converted monastery that immediately captures your imagination. The rooms in the main building have been carefully renovated and are spacious, with a generous shower and a breathtaking view over Dinant — a real highlight. Breakfast was enjoyable and well-stocked.

That said, I got the impression that the hotel operates with minimal staffing, which became apparent when an issue arose. Upon arrival, the room was pleasantly cool, but it quickly became clear that the air conditioning system had been modified to allow only central control via reception — guests have no way to adjust it themselves. Unfortunately, this system did not function properly during our stay. The fan was running at full speed, producing an incredibly loud and disruptive noise. On top of that, the unit emitted a deep humming sound every 15 to 30 minutes. We tried to sleep through it, but at 2 a.m. we had no choice but to go to the front desk to ask for help. Despite their efforts, neither switching the system off nor reducing it to a lower setting made any meaningful difference. In the end, we managed to get about three hours of sleep — thanks only to earplugs we happened to have with us. That is simply not what you expect from a hotel stay. I genuinely want to return and would love to recommend this place — the setting and the history alone make it special. But issues like this need to be resolved first. A hotel of this character deserves an experience that lives up to its surroundings.
