Sao Mai Hotel

The owner, Mr Vu, is wonderful. When my bus was not stopping in Cai Be, he organized the way back and picked me up with his motorbike the last 5 km at 10 p.m. The rooms are very large, climatizised, the bed comfortable, the bathroom really fine and clean. It's at least 3*+. At the other side it's like a homestay. And Mr Vu nd his family help where they can. So it doesn't wonder, that there are a lot of guests who come here every year. I also will come back.

Mr Vu and his family were the perfect hosts. They always made you feel welcome, he showed us around the area on scooters and let us borrow one of the scooters later free of charge. We went on a tour on a boat with him, stopping at all kinds of locations, which was one of the best we had in the mekong delta (he was also the tour guide). We had several dinners with them, helping them a bit with making the meals. I can say with no doubt this is a must for anyone wanting to experience the delta. Also the wifi was great, the shower was OK always with hot water, great air conditioning, there was always free water to drink and the location is also really good, right by the river.

The facilities themselves, although very large, need some maintainance. The spring bed we slept on was OK but worn out a long time ago (both of us slid into the middle of it), the room itself was big but wasn't clean enough (gums behind the bed head, squashed bugs and stains on the walls etc..). But, all places we stayed in on the mekong delta were similar that way and the value for money is still very high.

Superb location overlooking the river. This is a second generation family run hotel where you experience authentic Vietnam Airport or bus pick up and drop off are included, free cooking lessons and free bicycles, a delicious breakfast and dinner. The owner, Vu, can organize tours off the tourist track and tailor made to your interests. The whole family are genuinely welcoming and proud to show you the town they have always lived in and the country they love.

My friend and I will never forget our stay in Sao Mai Hotel. Vu and his family made us feel like we are a part of it. The cleanliness, comfort, warmth, amazing food, smiles - this place has it all! We also booked an incredible boat tour with them, very informative and atmospheric. I wish I could do it all over again!

Great people and great place to wander arround. They even help you with cheap local transportation from HCMC to their own door. They have free bikes to borrow. The dinner is yummy, a vast experience.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Some of the staff speaks fluent English. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.

Fantastic stay, very good dinner cooked each night with excellent variety. Join in the cooking if you like and learn local dishes. If they are doing a tour of Cai Be with hotel guests, I highly recommend this tour. The tour is far better than what is available at CanTho. Breakfast is very good, eggs, fruit, bread. Feels like being welcomed by a family this stay. Extended my stay because I was comfortable there.
