Phuong Mai Family Hotel

Centrally located, we had a room with an ocean view, which was stunning. The building is old (much like the rest of Cat Ba), but the owner and staff were amazing and very helpful. Comfortable bed, most mattresses in Vietban seem to be quite hard, but luckily, I prefer this. The windows are old and need updating as ours didn't entirely close properly (but only by a very small gap) and if it rained, small amounts of water gathered inside on the sill of the window but once the sun came back out it all soon dried up. All in all a great place to stay and I would have stayed there again if I ever needed to return to Cat Ba.

Only downside is there is no lift if you have heavy bags, stairs were easy to climb though.

We liked the position, it was close to everything you need. Everyone was really nice to us and always happy to help

-the view the property offer is only top floor which was occupied unfortunately but we still had beautiful view (u just hve to sit on your bed at least to be able to see it) -the toilet was made by some ‘builder genius level 3000’ as u not able to sit on it straight because wall is too close -the room is situated in massage building so u have to be quiet and careful as there’s people hving foot massage chill area and u walk there to go to your room like this is not weird at all lol (u can also hear these noises which massage makes in your room so it’s fun hahah

Wow, the sea view is what sells this hotel - if you don't mind climbing some stairs to your room, you get a fabulous view of the bay and a lovely sunset to boot. The room was very clean and featured two double beds, a/c, two fans and a massive picture window. Owner was lovely, and helped us arrange an onward bus to Tuan Chan ferry.

The staff was extremely nice! The room was exactly like the description and was clean and very well located. The view of the bay was exceptional!

The beds could be a little bit more comfortable but other than that there were no worries.

Great value for money in a great location, right in the middle of town. We booked for a garden view but the owner was super sweet and upgraded us to an ocean view.

There is a lot of stairs but the views make it worthwhile. Room was very clean but the bathroom had an unusual smell. Didn’t really bother us though.
