Hotel Flatey

It was a great place to stay on the quiet island.

Exceptional place. Athmospheric building, very helpful staff, wonderful island. Very rich breakfast. On top, perfect for birdwatching, with Snow Buntings, Red-necked Pharalopes and other specialities just around the hotel.

Nothing, all perfect.

A beautiful place where you can feel the power of isolation and see amazing birds, including Puffins.

location was good - food was excellent -employees were very helpfull and friendly -it was quiet -

only one shower for 6 rooms - is a bit low. electric was 1 connection in the room -so I had to plan the loading of batteries - mobile phone ....

Amazing location on the water on Flatey Island. Sweet building with nice views, incredible food and courteous staff.

The single room was TINY with barely room for bed and small table, much smaller than any single I have stayed in. Tiny window but couldn’t really see out unless I was sitting on the floor. I wouldn’t have minded except that there is no sitting area in the hotel other than the dining room our outside on terrace. Temperatures were pretty cool so not conducive for long time spent sitting outdoors. I would love to return sometime but would request a double room if I was traveling solo to have more space. But overall an incredible island and the birdwatching was excellent.

As the bulding is old sound travels easily between rooms

The hotel is wonderful on this nature paradise island. You won’t have city amenities but the rooms are light and airy and the location is the big seller here, as you’re surrounded by fearless birds and country living Icelanders. A real retreat. The meals produced by the chef would not be out of place in a top notch city centre high class restaurant

Pretty pricey but then everything has to come in by ferry.
