Tathra Beach Eco Camp

I stayed at Tathra Eco Camp for 2 nights and overall , my expectations were higher, especially since the place has received awards for sustainability. The location itself is nice and close to the beach, although it’s not directly overlooking the water. One of the highlights was that pets are not allowed, which made the environment feel more natural. we even saw kangaroos around, which was a lovely and unique experience.

However, there are several areas that need improvement: • Housekeeping was not provided, and this was not clearly mentioned at the time of booking. There was also a sign stating a $100 cleaning fee, which was surprising. The cleaning supplies provided were poor quality and appeared used. • The room itself was not clean. There was noticeable humidity, a broken door, and the side pillows looked like they had not been washed for a long time. • There were spider webs in multiple corners of the room. • Water pressure in the bathroom was weak, and there was no shampoo provided. • The room layout and furniture arrangement were not practical. The design could be improved significantly — for example, separating the sleeping area from the kitchen/living space would make it more functional. Access to the bathroom was very inconvenient, especially at night, as the narrow space between the bed and wall made movement difficult and disruptive. • There were no activities available on-site, and the fire that was promised on a rainy night was not set up, which was disappointing.

Campers please don’t cook 5 course meals. It’s a communal kitchen.
