Distinction Mackenzie Country Hotel

Loved the proximity of it to what we needed. Very quiet.

Breakfast wasn’t quite up to par and we were hurried along.

Great room. Very comfy beds, good bathroom.

Food was awful- school dinners. And none of the staff could speak English and were poorly trained.

Thank you for inviting me to give feed back. When I give feedback I try to be subjective, fare & factual. I have worked in the hospitality industry all my live in many different countries in the world. I am also an advocate for local and regional product offerings, none of which was offered. The hotel is in close proximity of two salmon farms none was offered at breakfast which was very basic and poor value for money. The hotel is also close to one of NZ's largest fruit regions and yet the hotel serves TINNED fruit salad at breakfast. As an FIT traveller i would expect a better standard of service and value of money not treated like the mass tourist coach one nighters. Hyatt in the park or Hilton Hotel in Auckland offer better prices and impeccable service. The wardrobe in the room only had room for two items of cloth and only two coat hangers, I understand the rooms were recently refurbished and there was a huge opportunity missed to do better. there was no mirror in the room, no safe for valuables, no milk nin the fridge for coffee.

Good location for our needs and travel plans. Breakfast good, however the beans were not gluten free.

Buy gluten free baked beans, they are not usually any more expensive.
