"Stay here"

10.0

My nephew and I spend one night here while on a short trip to Germany. This hotel and its kind hosts are really great. We cannot recommend a hotel any higher than this one. It is situated on the opposite side of the river from the Castle, but do not fear this, as they walk across the water is very easy and enjoyable. The town was a really nice visit, being very uncrowded, and quaint, perfect for a little getaway. It seems from talking to a couple of German friends that this is a town and hotel that needs to be better discovered. Thank you so much to the hosts.

"Alles ist schoen."

10.0

If you are travelling in this area stay at the Hotel Faerhaus in Meissen. My wife and I recently did a driving tour around northern Germany. We had Dresden on our list to visit. But we also were curious about nearby Meissen. We booked a room for two nights at Hotel Faehrhaus which turned out to be one of our best lodging choices. First, the facilities are great. Our room was was clean, creatively decorated and comfortable including bedroom and bath. Second, the location was excellent. It was a 5-10 minute walk on the bridge over the Elbe river to the alte Stadt and another 10 minutes to the Meissen porcelain complex which is a must visit. It was a ten minute walk from Hotel Faerhaus Meissen to the main train station. We took the train to Dresden for a day of touring rather than drive. It was about a 45 minute train ride. Since we did have a car, we appreciated the free parking offered at Hotel Faerhaus. But most importantly was the warm hospitality of our innkeeper, Christine and her artistic husband. Christine speaks English like a native speaker. She had spent time in Canada and Hawaii and other places. She was a great resource for Saxony travel. She loaned us a very useful guidebook for our visit to Dresden. She was even kind enough to take our laundry in. So cheers for this fine lodging.

"The best!"

10.0

We stumbled upon Meissen as a way to break up our trip from Munich to Berlin with hopes to see the countryside and taste wine from Saxony. My husband immediately booked upon reading the stellar reviews. The Faehrhaus exceeded our expectations! The owners: speak English and are extremely helpful and kind. They are friendly, interesting and can give you suggestions (for us, suggesting a local vineyard). The accommodations: spotless, quiet/peaceful and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the room adjacent to the private parking lot, which had a large bed, tv, radio hook up, wifi (could go in and out a bit but was fine), an upstairs loft with a couch, desk and chairs and a sunny window. We had both a completely private back patio to ourselves to sit and enjoy the Nespresso, tea or water or we could sit in front of the room on lounge chairs or our own patio set (you can opt for breakfast there or in main room). We couldn't get over the attention to detail and aesthetics with the room. The tiles were all handpainted by the owner! The bathroom was well equipped with nice toiletries and spacious. Breakfast: delicious array of options with something for everyone and excellent eggs to order. Served from 8-10. We also appreciated the hosts orientation to both the room (light switch location) and the breakfast-telling us what's native to Germany etc. Random pluses: since the husband in the team is the painter, you could also purchase porcelain hand painted by him! What a great souvenir! Much better than the Meissen Porcelain store!! The hotel is an easy walk to the main town and we enjoyed the running path by the river. It was a great few days and we would whole heartedly recommend the Faehrhaus to anyone in the area. We would absolutely return.

"Bijou"

10.0

Great little family run hotel and geared up for guests travelling by car – Eclectic colourful decor which somehow works – Rooms furnished to a very high standard but not the typical hotel chain layout so expect some eccentricities (Ask for Room 6 ‘Poeny’) – Wonderful breakfast selection – Within 10 minutes walk of centre of Meissen and its multitude of restaurants – Near to train station with access to soulless Dresden (Meissen the preferable place to stay) within 35 minutes.

"An unexpected gem"

10.0

A German friend of mine booked this beautifully romantic guesthouse in Meissen. We arrived on a sunny day in July and were immediately charmed by this place. The courtyard garden in front of the house is beautifully planted with flowers and climbers, tables and chairs welcome you to take a seat. The small hotel itself is superbly appointed and decorated in a quirky yet elegant way. The soft furnishings and furniture in every room are quite stunning with a dream-bed dressed in the finest linen and a view towards the river Elbe. The elegant light and airy breakfast room is also cleverly designed. We had a superb breakfast served on beautiful Meissen porcelain, read the papers and historic coffee table books. The owners, a lovely couple, are extremely welcoming. What's more a 10 minute walk along the Elbe takes you to the incredibly stunning historic centre of Meissen where you will find lovely Inns, great wine, smart shops. Above all enjoy the wonderful architecture and history of this medieval small town and of course, the Meissen factory and museum. A perfect place for a short holiday, we would have loved to stay a little longer. Dresden, the suberbly restored capital of Saxony and its enchanting countryside and villages are just 45 minutes drive away. All in all a wonderful experience.

"Best hotel I have been stayed for a while"

10.0

I guess the best thing was the overall atmosphere in the hotel. Staff was great, hotel's interior was romantic, guests were trusted, garden was beautiful, breakfast was big and had many different options etc. Only thing what left something to hope for, was wifi which was quite limited. Everything was set up to make guests feel like a second home and to have a really pleasant stay. Short walking distance from Meissen centre. Definitely going to visit this hotel again in future.

"Perfect in every way"

10.0

We stayed in this delightful B&B for 5 nights. As we entered the courtyard - full of plants, flowers and a quiet sound of trickling water, we became enchanted. Then we saw our suite - spacious, decorated with taste to the tiniest detail and then I looked outside a window and I saw THE view. And I knew that we would have a lovely time in Meissen. So we did. The owners pay attention to everything, they are very kind, charming and helpful. The B&B does not have a restaurant, but it offers plentiful and tasty breakfasts (a buffet and a possibility to order scrambled / fried eggs), served on beautiful Meissen china. In addition, guests may use a Nespresso coffee machine and prepare a tea (Samova) free of charge. Moreover, there is a fridge in the reception area, where one may find local wines, beers and soft drinks for an additional (very reasonable) charge. The railway station with trains travelling in the direction of Dresden every 30 min is no more than 8-10 minutes walk away. Meissen old town is located on the other side of the river, also no more than 8-10 minutes walk away. A bicycle path along the river is located just down the street. I highly recommend visiting Meissen and staying in Faehrhaus Meissen. They are just lovely.

"Stylish and friendly boutique guesthouse"

10.0

Beautiful rooms decorated with Designers Guild fabrics and wallpapers, hand painted tiles and shabby chic furniture, this guesthouse is a great find. Add to that the friendliness of the Paulsens (who own and run it) the fabulous buffet breakfast every morning and the delightful courtyard garden and you have a perfect place to stay. Located minutes from the River Elbe, and a short walk to the beautiful old town, it is worth seeking out.

"For a B&B this is the best, great service, personal style of owners"

10.0

Just 8 rooms and great service, the Paulsens runs this place with passion. Very quirky decor & good choice of individual items. Great advice on local attractions and food choices across the river with views of the city What I liked : quirky decor of high quality, clean and good quality breakfast, great tea and cheese What could be an issue. Across river to town, no restaurant, small but adequate rooms
