Logis La Source Bleue

We are cycling through France for two months and staying in good quality hotels and B&Bs and eating in restaurants in many cities. We booked this accommodation as it’s literally on a long distance cycle route. The location is unique and peaceful. There was one person on premises when we arrived at 3pm (early as trying to avoid heavy thunderstorms - which came five minutes after arrival). This member of staff was friendly and helpful. Dinner was excellent but inside due to appalling weather. The dining rooms have character. The linen and towels were good quality, the bed was comfortable.

Most of the reviews we do (very many) are in the 9&10 category. Unfortunately, this property did not come close. Firstly, nowhere to store bikes inside, the reception area seemed run down and definitely not clean. The room was dark, stale and with no aircon after very hot days, very stuffy. The bathroom was even darker. One of the chairs in the room was threadbare (room 8). The desk (always a requirement when booking a room as we need to work each day at 5am for a short period) was covered with a microwave (not sure why there was one), no kettle, a coffee pod machine, a tray with cups and glasses) and absolutely no room for anything, let alone a laptop. no milk, no fridge. There was a coffee machine downstairs for guests to use but no milk. There was no mobile reception and the poor wifi kept dropping out. The bar area was deserted at 5.30pm. It was also very tired, dusty and unwelcoming. If it weren’t for the one exceptional staff member who seemed to be doing five jobs who did get us a drink it would get an even lower score. Considering this was in the high end price wise nights with dinner in over 50 bookings, it fell short in too many areas. It seems to be popular with people for one night on their way to somewhere else rather than a destination in itself.

Beautiful looking property. The restaurant was excellent and service was very good . The people looking after us were very professional and very pleasant. We had booked the Roulotte. The interior was well decorated with all the facilities and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. The lake with the blue source was amazing.

We like everything but we thought the fruit trees in the field would have been much happier with a bit of pruning.

The location and property are exceptional, The room was very clean and good value. The food is very good

You arrive in a car park with no clear visible signage to the reception.( The building to the left ! ) When we were finally re directed to the reception the hostess (Natalie) seemed disinterested in checking us in and was very abrupt. Upon trying to reserve a table for dinner the same hostess completely ignored our attempts to distract her from her mobile phone while she wandered the car park. The evening dinner is in the original mill building and was a very sombre affair. The food was very good but slow to arrive.

It is a beautiful traditional hotel in a lovely setting. We have stayed before and chose to return for these reasons and also the excellent food. We love to cycle and it is right next to the fabulous canal route.

While the food was difficult to fault, the 3 course menu has increased in price from our last stay.

It’s close to the small lake, which is beautiful

There is no WiFi basically, not in the room, not even outside the room.

It’s a hidden hotel with a Michelin restaurant. Unfortunately there is no WiFi anywhere and no signal for your phone as well. The room is outdated. Need to improve the cleaning I think. The staff is nice. Just with out WiFi and signal can be bit of challenge.
