"A very good and comfortable place to stay"

9.0

Whalley Abbey is a special place to stay. It is like being in a sort of country house. It has comfortable guest rooms, a large, spacious comfortable guest lounge - which an intricate patterned ceiling. Many other rooms have large beams in the ceiling and/or very large fireplaces. They also do excellent breakfasts. The building itself is very quiet, set in very pleasant gardens and all around are reminders of the large abbey that once existed. The train station is an easy 10-minute walk away. For days out and places to visit, Whalley is a good base, as there are many bus routes available to use. Whalley, the town, is also very nice as there is a lot of greenery all over. A good place to visit is Clitheroe, just a 15-minute bus or drive away. This was my second stay at Whalley Abbey and I plan to stay again, later in the year and I suspect, for a good many years to come. Don't bother with a hotel if in the area, Whalley Abbey is a far superior place to stay in just about every regard.

"Perfect for my needs"

8.0

I used to play in the grounds as a child so a real novelty to stay here for 2,days with, I think, new managers in charge . I knew it was a safe place to park, but I was very grateful to be offered a garage to store my motorbike overnight. I noted that cyclists could also get their bicycles stored lnside. Breakfast is at 8.30 am or maybe 8am if you request it so worth asking if you plan an early start. It was, very quiet which was great for a good sleep. There's obviously some religious icons about but nobody should be put off by it if your not religious and the sanctity of the pub is, close by.

Nothing it was great all round. If I had been working breakfast time might be a bit late but I know there is flexibility if you ask
