Lovely location and very comfortable

The only thing that was a little annoying was the late booking in 4pm .....I think they should change it to about 2pm

"Very Good"

Stunning grounds, stunning abbey ruins, the building we stayed in was beautiful too. My whole family were bowled over by it, even my teen was in wonder at the stunning setting. I would love to come again just for the abbey if nothing else.

It wasn't easy to find staff, there was no info given on breakfast, where to go for it and how to find it. A number of guests, like us, spent almost an hour searching to find where it was served. This could have been solved by better communication or including directions in info leaflet. When we found breakfast, I was served a pot of coffee but no cup, there was a lack of cutlery and the food choices and quality were really poor. I would take my own breakfast in future, the place is so beautiful, this would not put me off returning.

"A novel location but rather basic and overpriced"

6.0

An unusual place to stay on the site of a medieval abbey. Well located with easy parking.

No signage to show where to park or to register. The welcome was rather frosty. The building is primarily a diocesan retreat centre. The room was small and basic. The toilet didn't flush properly and the toilet seat was loose. A cooked breakfast was served but it was rather overcooked. Orange juice was not fresh. A strange place which with a little more effort could be improved.

"A lovely, clean, peaceful place to stay."

Beautiful building and surroundings. Very peaceful and sacred. The chapel and opportunity for prayers.

The ‘hostel’ feel.

The location was perfect for attending a wedding in the field next-door. The building is interesting and characterful. Being able to explore the ruins with the little one was great.

Not much. Our room was comfortable, but most rooms are twin and not double beds.

"I have stayed at Whalley abbey 4 times previously - always with groups. This was least satisfactory"

6.0

I liked the grounds

I arrived in good time for breakfast but when I got to go for cooked items the bacon was tough to eat and the scrambled egg tray was almost empty. Also the hot-water tap only ran luke-warm water at night - about 9:30 p.m.
