Mudi House

The property was lovely, but the host is even better! mona Lisa and Fatma are super warm and welcoming and make you feel right at home. Breakfast was amazing, and we absolutely loved the outdoor couches to lounge around in.

This hostel is great, clean rooms, hot water, good fan, working wifi, communal gas top cooker and great communal relaxing areas. Mona Lisa is LOVELY and made our stay so much better! Everyone that works here is super friendly and there is always someone available to talk to if you need anything. The breakfast in the morning is great. We got two crepes, a piece of toast with an egg how you want it (fried, scrambled etc.) a plate of fruit, a glass of juice and the option of tea or coffee with sugar and milk optional. Each day we got a different juice and fruit which was a nice bit of variety. The walk down to the beach is so close it takes less than two minutes, it is a bit hard to swim as the tides aren’t high until later at night around 6 so during the day you can just relax on the sand. It is hard to find things to do in Jambiani just because everything like the turtle sanctuary and the dolphin or snorkelling tours are up at the top of the island in Matemwe which is a 2 hour drive. We did a nice snorkelling trip for roughly 2 hours just from the Jambiani beach right down from the hostel which went out to the reef and it was great. Highly recommend Mudi House if you’re staying in Jambiani!

The staff were good and attentive . Helpful when I asked for additional fan for room. Room was small but sufficient and clean. For a budget hotel it was close to beach.

It was a hot and stuffy room with poor fans and ventilation. Very poor Wi-fi Breakfast was slightly below what I have experienced in other similar budget hotels. Zanzibar is way overpriced compared to the rest of Tanzania, therefore, you really don't get value for your money. I thought overall, the rating for this hotel is too high in my opinion.

Location, breakfast, room facilities are good.

There are no A/C in the room, I felt hot and muggy at night.

Mona Lisa went the extra mile to make us feel welcome, organising massages, taxis and excursions. What really made the difference though was when I dropped my wallet in a taxi. I was over 50km away but she made it her personal mission to make sure she retrieved it and had a friend bring it to me the very same evening. Outstanding! Thank you ❤️
