"Great stay"

Friendly staff, pub meals and breakfast were excellent. Great pub overlooking the estuary. Handy for walking Dalbeattie forest. We stayed in room 2 which had excellent views.

Shower pressure was poor but understand this is an old building. Shower cubicle needs re sealing re mould and a repaint in the shower room.

"Enjoyable and lovely location"

Breakfasts were good, steak pie was excellent, half pint of potted prawns were hard work and a waste of money - a joke.

Some of the staff made us feel uncomfortable, rather abrupt, but some were very nice.

"Accommodation extremely shabby. Extensive refurbishment desperately required."

2.0

Breakfast was fine but limited choice. Options were a full Scottish or vegetarian breakfast or just egg on toast.

The furniture & decor of our room was extremely shabby with badly worn & damaged furniture. The mattress was comfortable but sadly the bedding did not fit. The bottom sheet was not fitted & was too small & it couldn’t be tucked in. The mattress protector had spots of blood on it. Fastenings on the mattress protector were torn & not secured which meant the sheet & protector didn’t stay in place. Consequently not a great nights sleep. The Anchor looks nice from the outside but the general shabbiness of the accommodation means we will not return.

Food was terrific , staff delightful and location and view spectacular

The entry doors are dangerous !! Getting my 91 year old sister safely in and out of the entrance was extremely difficult . The single bed in room 8 is also a nightmare !!You can feel the metal rings with your fingertips , no need to even lay on the bed . Having just made an extremely long flight from California I was looking forward to a comfortable nights sleep …. Well that didn’t happen ! The shower in the bathroom is a joke ! Please have one of your staff stay overnight and test the bed and the shower . You will understand why nobody would encourage their friends to stay at your hotel . My sister probably said it best …. You’re a pub with rooms . Yes your food is delicious but I’m not sure you will have repeat customers . Cheers … Liz McDougall

Great location

Room was very small and aspects of the property felt a little shabby - the communal hallways and stairs

Lovely place. Staff very friendly and hard working. Food was great... tasty, freshly cooked and hot. Lovely view from bedroom window

Room 1 no hot water in shower. When we complained we were given key to another room to use the shower. Not ideal having to go along the corridor with my shower stuff but better than nothing! Also single bed blocked the wardrobe and the radiator
