The Anchor Hotel

The food is exceptional, service and staff, always helpful and friendly. The location is very good with great views and the area is good for exploring.

We always enjoy staying here, however some areas are a bit dated and would benefit from refurbishment

Whats not to like perfect place for any occasion

Breakfast was delicious. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Took my 8 year old Border Collie and had no problems at all. Room was very comfortable and warm. Beds were super comfy with lovely linen.

The only thing I have to say is that the corridor outside our room smelled of stale cooking oil.

Had the most wonderful stay here with our grandchildren … no it’s not 5 star and remember neither is the price and on that note I rate it exceptional… the breakfast was better than most 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in and the fact it is maybe tired added to the experience it was charming and took me back to my childhood .. exactly the experience I wanted my grandchildren to experience.. the location was beautiful. We woke to sunshine and a beautiful view across the river … we originally booked a different hotel that was double the price until my grandchildren decided they wanted to join us and I’m so glad we changed hotels and booked here …… they do a tomahawk steak for two on the night time menu ! Absolutely superb!! Definitely recommend.. the staff are wonderful my only complaint was the water ran very slowly but it’s an old hotel/pub so otherwise 10/10
