Morena is an absolute 10/10. The location is unbeatable, the food is outstanding (10/10), and the breakfast included is simply perfect (10/10). Everything exceeded our expectations, from the atmosphere to the quality and care in every detail. We truly couldn’t have asked for more.

Following the advice of many other travelers who recommended coming here, this became our favorite hotel of our entire trip through the south. The experience was incredible, literally right in front of the beach, where you step outside and you’re in the ocean. Breakfast included was exquisite, and the food at the restaurant was consistently excellent throughout our stay. There is a swimming area with a natural pool that feels truly magical at sunset. We would absolutely come back and recommend it without hesitation.

Das einzige, was ich richtig positiv bei diesem Hotel empfand, war die Lage. Es liegt direkt an einem Strand, an dem die Schildkröten kommen, um Plankton zu fressen. Bei meiner Ankunft konnte ich sieben Schildkröten dabei beobachten. Auch den Ausblick von der Bar, die sich Rooftop befand, kann man auch positiv bewerten, dieser war sehr schön. Das Frühstück war gut. Man konnte à la carte ein Gericht auswählen, ich habe mich für die Bowl entschieden. Sie war frisch zubereitet und mit sehr guten Früchten. Allerdings empfinde ich auch hier Preisleistung als nicht gegeben. Ansonsten habe ich die Unterkunft gebucht nach den Fotos und Rezensionen und war mehr als nur enttäuscht.

Es fing damit an, dass bei Bezug des Zimmers (es war nicht früher als angegeben), das Badezimmer sehr rudimentär gesäubert wurde und alles komplett feucht war. Dazu kam auf meinem Bild suggeriert wurde, dass ich einen separaten Bereich vor meinem Zimmer habe. Das war leider genau das Gegenteil! Vor dem Hotel befindet sich eine Terrasse, die mit Sand aufgeschüttet ist. Von dieser Terrasse aus kann man direkt in die riesigen Glasfenster meines Zimmers schauen. Da die Vorhänge nicht komplett über die Breite gehen, habe ich auch keine Chance gehabt das Zimmer komplett zu verschließen. Morgens hat mich dann der Angestellte gleich mal gesehen, der die Liegen vorbereitet hat. Insgesamt zieht das Gebäude eher nach einem Beton Rohbau aus als nach einem netten Hotel. Am letzten Abend durfte ich dann noch feststellen, dass mein Gepäck komplett durchfeuchtet war. Das lag daran, dass alles feucht gewischt wurde und man nicht darauf achtet, dass mein Gepäck da lag. Die Freundlichkeit des Personals war durchwachsen. Während des Bar Personal sehr freundlich und bemüht war, war die Dame an der Rezeption eher sehr kurz angebunden. In der Nacht fiel der Strom aus, allerdings nur in meinem Zimmer. Es bedarf erst einer Diskussion, damit sich jemand darum gekümmert hat. Es war meine teuerste Unterkunft in Sri Lanka, dafür aber mit Abstand die schlechteste. Das geht besser.

Location right on the beach

I booked 2 seperate rooms for our family of five. Sadly found out once we arrived that they do not supply a roll away bed even when they are notified of 3 guests in one bedroom. Both rooms were not cleaned or beds made on the first full day. Unfortunately, we also found that the shower and toilet were blocked. One room had no hot water. Overall, the level of service was disappointing. Breakfast took nearly an hour to be served for five people, despite us consistently being the only guests dining at that time. While the view is undeniably beautiful, the accommodation and service did not meet expectations. I would not recommend staying here. The staff would greatly benefit from further training to improve guest experience.

We chose this place mainly for the location, but it ended up offering much more. Incredible views, (turtles from the bed, a famous surf point) a fantastic breakfast included, and an overall experience that felt well above what we paid. Everything was easy and comfortable from start to finish, and the atmosphere made it a place we genuinely enjoyed spending time in. It definitely exceeded our expectations.

Amazing location, incredible food and one of the best breakfasts we had during our trip. The place was spotlessly clean and felt very well cared for. Great value for money, actually cheaper than many other hotels we stayed in, but noticeably better in terms of comfort and overall experience. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
