Sigiri Liya Rest

Top hotel! Ultra clean, confortable and a/c and hot shower fully operative. Staff were taking care of our needs all the time. They helped us with the laundry and offered breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. Very quiet to rest at night. Would come back again without hesitation.

The best place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka! We came for 3 nights and stayed for 4! This has been our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka and we've been in the country for a month and we've been lots of places at the same room price budget. The room was so beautiful to walk in to. It was very spacious with high ceilings and very clean. The bed was large and really comfortable. The best bed we’ve had in Sri Lanka. Clean crisp sheets and bedding. It had air conditioning and a really good fan. We used the air conditioning in the day time, but at night the fan was enough. The room looks out onto a beautiful garden and is private and quiet. There is a balcony with chairs outside where you can relax. The accommodation is close to town, (easy walking distance into town and Lion Rock) There is a restaurant at the accommodation which we also highly recommend. It is rated in the top 3 restaurants for the district. The food was delicious! rated 4.9 on google for reason. Breakfast was great, lunches and dinners are next level. The owners provided transport to the beginning of the Pidurangala climb and to Kandy for a fair price in their neat little car. Also did us a deal to get to Kandy sharing with some other guests for a great price. The family were very kind and helpful. Very nice people to be around. We highly recommend this accommodation. One of the best places we got to visit! The family that hosts us were so nice, and even helped us with the driving to kandy. The food in the restaurant is great and we chose to eat there almost every meal. The room is nice, good AC, clean and comfortable. Strongly recommended to come host at this place!

At the last day when we had to leave we saw that we lost our key. After looking we asked for a spare key to open the door but they said they don’t have because the last couple forget it too. They helped us and break the window little bit so we can open the window. After it we ask to pay about loosing the key and they said that a new cylinder cost 12,000 rupi and the other couple pay 5,000 (16 dollar) for loosing a key! They said we can pay how much we want but this is the price. We paid the same amount but after it we discover that duplicate a key cost just 1,000 rupi. We talked to them that they had 3 rooms and they could put us in different room till they duplicate the one key. They didn’t give us the 5,000 rupi back after we said we want to pay less. 5,000 rupi is the price for two night sleep there. Moreover, we had included breakfast, we ordered the meal in the first day and asked for an avocado toast after it we told them that it is include in the price we paid. They said that usually they don’t give a breakfast like this and just toast, butter and jam. We apologise and they said it is okay this morning… the next day we got the basic breakfast and when we came to pay they charge us on the avocado and the other staff we got. I would prefer to be told from the beginning that I need to pay more rather to discover it at the end after they said that everything was alright.

Nada nos engañaron, teníamos reserva para dos dias pero al llegar vimos que estaba sucio, lleno De bichos, sábanas con sangre, la piscina llena de larbas y renacuajos, le dijimos que solo queríamos una noche, nos cobro una y dijo que no nos preocuparamos, la Sorpresa ha sido que ha dicho a booking que no hemos ido al hotel, pero tenemos la factura demostrable.

The family that has this place are the nicest people I’ve met on my travels. They showed me around everywhere and even cared for me when I got sick! They also serve the best Sri Lankan food at their restaurant!! If you’re interested in learning more about Sigiriya and Sri Lanka this is the place for you!

The host family was very friendly and welcoming. They made an effort to make me feel comfortable, helped me arrange a pickup from the bus stop and provided me with good recommendations for activities in the area. The location is great, within walking distance to Sigiryia Rock, yet very calm and peaceful with a nice view from the balcony. The bed was superbly comfortable.

No Wifi available. My room was very clean but smelled a bit musty.
