Albergo Del Sole

Fantastic hotel in the historic center of Varenna. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a great view of the lake. Breakfast was very good, and all the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome.

It was very helpful staff! Very clean room! Perfect location! I would definitely stay there again!

I was lucky to stay on a higher floor that comes with the view of the mountains and water. Also appreciated the good quality handsoap, shower gel and shampoo.

Contrary to the popular review here, the breakfasts were actually disappointing. All food were cold when eaten as they have been left in the cold room temperature. The only hot food provided daily was the coffee. Hot scrambled eggs were only offered on my first day of stay (out of total 4 days). Although sweet pastries were provided in large quantities everyday, they were too cold and too sweet to eat in the morning as part of breakfast. At least a simple DIY oven should be provided to warm up the cold breads and cold pastries. Aside, shower experience for single bedroom was messy as there was no curtain to contain the splashing water. The entire floor of the toilet space was completely wet as a result.

The check-in staff was super nice and helpful. The gentleman who served breakfast was very nice and courteous. The view of Lake Como was really relaxing and nice. The location is central and there were many good restaurants around.

There was no body wash or shampoo when we checked in. Apparently the person who prepared the room forgot them?! The gentleman who checked us in had to help gather these items and additional towels. The bathroom had a huge spider web over the shower stall. It was not big deal for us but for others it might be a problem. The breakfast was very basic but the gentleman made us yummy cappuccino so that made up for the mediocre breakfast.

It was a great location, amazing food- breakfast lunch and dinner. Friendly staff, we had a nice little balcony.

The floor was sticky, we had ants in our room, it was very hot at night, wifi wasn’t the best.
