Shaheen Hotel Baghdad

Dear Booking.com Support Team, My name is Nashwan Hasan, and I’m writing to report a serious issue we experienced with Shahen Hotel in Baghdad, which we booked through your platform. We were a group of 9 people, visiting the city for an important football match. We had a confirmed reservation at this hotel via Booking.com. However, when we arrived to check in, the hotel staff were extremely disrespectful. They began saying bad words to us and suddenly demanded more money, even though we had a confirmed reservation with the agreed price. It was clear they were trying to exploit us, possibly because they thought we were wealthy tourists. Due to their aggressive and unprofessional behavior, we felt unsafe and decided to leave the hotel immediately. As a result, we had nowhere to sleep that night and the experience severely impacted our trip. I strongly believe this hotel is violating Booking.com’s standards and damaging the trust of customers. I request that you please investigate this property and consider removing Shahen Hotel from your platform to prevent others from experiencing the same mistreatment. Location is good , fees steps away from Dijlah village which has plenty of dining options. Also the area is quite comparing to other busy areas in Baghdad. Staff is nice and supportive.

I would like to be honest because this is a 5 stars hotel and the expectation is high when you have only very few hotels rated as 5 stars in Baghdad, so the quality and standards should be really matching the rating. - paying by card then you have to pay additional 3% commission ! They priced in USD then when u want to pay by card they use the parallel exchange rate (not the official rate) so you end up paying big extra amount! - bed mattress quality can be better. It’s firm and not so comfy - pillows also not very comfortable and you should have different pillow options as per the usual practice in 5 stars hotels. - quality of hair shampoo and body wash can be improved. It’s obvious that’s it’s from a poor quality. - coffee at rooms: there is only 3 in 1 instant coffee sachets, which is not a good choice for a guest with diabetes. You should have the standard black coffee option. - breakfast: that’s my 3rd visit to the hotel, I can say it’s improving comparing to previous visits however it’s really not what you expect at 5 a stars hotel. I travelled to 35 countries it’s my first time I see a hotel breakfast without coffee and you need to pay extra money for coffee! Guys that’s insane ! Also, you should have a live station for omelette and enhanced food options. Juice also is canned and not of a high quality. - breakfast area is mixed for smoking and not smoking guests. That’s not normal and as a non smoker you cannot expect to start your day at early morning with heavy smokers and smoke smell every where.
