Karanga Bungalows

Very calming bungalow right next to a beautiful, less traversed beach. Windows allow for a great breeze and with the mosquito netting and fan, we slept very comfortably. Location is beautiful and serene with easy access to Pingwe and Michamvi beaches, and staff are so lovely and proactive. Wifi and facilities are great. The place is very neatly maintained.

Amazing staff. Isaac is a great host, always helpful and nice. Beautiful bungalows away of mass tourism and crowds and 5 mins walk to the beach. Breakfast was really good, huge portions and variety.

We had a free parking and breakfast was very good. Beach is just a few minutes on foot from the room.

It's a shame that I have to write something here, but I would have liked to know this before I got here: We had a room with one big bed and one bunk bed. Ceiling fan was only above big bed and that was the only place in the room where you could barely sleep. Above bunk bed there is no ceiling bed and it is literally impossible to sleep due to heat. Room has only one window so you can't even make a draft. Big bed had mosquito net and it was functional, but bunk bed had one totally unusable - just for the photo. It was hitched to the roof on 4 different places but far away from the wall, so the bed had to be distanced from the wall allowing the child sleeping on upper bed to fall down (that side of the bed didn't have any rail). Every day staff sprays the room to kill mosquitos and it really works, but we had constant incoming of giant ants (1-1.5cm in length) somewhere from the roof beams. Also, during the night you can hear wood eating bugs eating away the beams (you can't see them but during the night when everything is quiet you can hear them clearly scraping through the wood). Bathroom had no door (room number 7). Sometime in the past they broke and never got replaced. Internet is present around the reception but signal is non existent in room 7 (far end of the property). Unfortunately I must say I wouldn't stay here again :(

What a lovely stay we had in Karanga Bungalows We loved the place so much that we extended twice It's far from the crowds and so relaxing, you can reach the beach after 5mins walk The owner is so kind, helped us with everything, breakfast is simple but has all you need and is served directly onto your veranda. The room is so big and was lovely decorated with flowers. Has also a mosquito net. The bed is the most comfortable one we had in Zanzibar. There are a lot of mosquitos, so bring repellant.

This was a bargain stay. The bed was comfortable and even though there is no aircon, the fan was sufficient for night time sleeping. The area is very quaint and local. We ate at the little restaurant and walked to the beach and the famous beach bar. Staff were attentive.

Karanga Bungalows meet your expectations if you are looking for a private hideaway in a genuine beach proximity setting, away from mass tourism or package tour folks. The nights are calm, secure and peaceful.

There is an adjacent bar where loud music is playing in the evenings and some clients misbehave at times when they had too much to drink.
