Athene Motel

- although in a city center, it was quiet - you could prepare your own breakfast (from the given ingredients) - quite spacious bathroom

The overall atmosphere of this place is weird. Upon arriving, you don't even see the staff, as the key is passed through a hole in a wall (no window, whatsoever). In the room there was a remaining stench of cigarettes. But what made me really uncomfortable was that we were given a package with body lotion, toothbrushes, and... condoms. It was really weird, especially considering that we were staying in a twin bed room. In the room there was also half-used shaving cream and hair gel for men, a dirty hair comb, and on the wall there were hung bathrobes. The overall vibe made it feel like a love hotel, where anonymity is needed. We haven't seen any other living people during our stay there. Only afterwards did I get to know that motels generally are in Korea associated with secret encounters sexually oriented, and it can be felt while staying there. On another note, although the bedsheets looked clean, the rest of the room left doubts about its cleanliness, especially the hair dryer and the desk.

Really good place

For a motel it was very good! It was cheap and it is noticeable why but it is a perfect stay for a couple of days. The room is very clean and broad. You have everything you need there and they provide the basic necessities. There was also breakfast! don't expect one as in a hotel but for me I was just happy to have something to eat before my day.

I didn't really liked that there was no one at the counter. Only when I arrived to let me check in. Afterwards there was nobody to be seen. It didn't bother me that much but sometimes I just felt like I didn't had a place to go to if I had a question

Everything went well with my stay at Athene Motel. Its near the May 18 Memorial Park and Uncheon Reservoir, there are 2 bus stops near and 1 train station that makes it accessible. The room is clean and spacious for one person. The hosts are kind, they let me store my luggage even after check out and come back for it. The free breakfast is basic but good. Recommended when you go to Gwangju.

Most of the facilities are only allowed to be used for a very short period of time

Strategically located near Uncheon Station. Cute breakfast station

Bed is not comfortable, linen gave me some harsh rashes. Level 5 looks super creepy. Room looks super outdated. Clearly a love motel. I wouldn’t stay here again
