Macdonald Highlands Hotel at Macdonald Aviemore Resort

Breakfast fast generally good. On the Monday morning sourdough bead and pastries were not available until after 8. Looks like someone forgot to take them out the freezer. Got the brush off from one member of staff. The second chap I asked went and found out what was happening. But apart from that all fine.

Great property - good facilities

Nothing - all good

Stayed in room 2330 on the top floor. Excellent sized room for 3, comfortable beds and we found all staff to be helpful and greeted us with a smile.. We used the pool on 2 occasions and really enjoyed it. The lifeguards were extremely helpful friendly and the free floats and toys in the pool added to the experience. The location of the hotel was ideal for accessing the town and adequate parking within the complex.

Breakfast could have more choice as it was quite limited especially in terms of cereal and fruit. Hallways and rooms could do with a lick of paint as very dated but otherwise it was a good break away. The complex as a whole could do with a little nvestment and modernising.

Pleasant dining facility with a good choice of dishes on the menu, knowledgeable staff and plenty of room for both staff and guests to move around which is all too often ignored in some hotels.

Breakfast was busier and more frantic than the previous evenings dinner and it was noteable that some of the buffet items were taking time to replace and some were warm rather than hot. Tea and coffee urns were running out frequently however all of the above are not uncommon in buffet service breakfasts.

The suite I had booked was very good and spacious. The Hotel served excellent breakfast despite having some large groups of travellers staying when I was at the hotel. Room facilities including towel rack heating were functioning per expectations. The wifi connection was good

Access to the suite using the lift (elevator) was, I was informed, a long route requiring me to carry two heavy suitcases up the stairs. There did not seem to be concierge service or I was not offered one. The signages in the hotel grounds created quite a bit of confusion. Those signposts could be more user friendly.
