Marakolliya Beach Resort

The resort was tricky to find at first but so worth the effort! We had such a great stay that we decided to extend our stay there .. the staff were terrific and could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious, clean and had a great view of the resort and ocean. The breakfasts were a great start to the day!

Pool and the location on the beach front. We had an issue in the room which was immediately sorted out. People were super friendly. It is a bit of a walk to the restaurants but we enjoyed that and being away from the crowds

A true gem with multiple facilities to use. Direct access to the beach made the entire experience truly complete. They also serve an excellent breakfast! Would 100% visit again.

Beautiful location on a stunning beach, not crowded. Short walk to the beach bars in Tangalle. We had a large room with large walk in shower, big comfortable bed and good air conditioning. We had a terrace overlooking the jungle, so saw lots of birds, squirrels etc. Mini fridge in room. Breakfast was good, and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and helpful. The pool bar staff, Kavindu and Chalani were lovely, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Beach towels available.

The hairdryer lacked any power. (Take your own) Wi-Fi in room very slow, bit a bit better in the bar area. They put on a big new year's eve party which was great, but lots of plastic cups, straws etc left on the beach, even though they did 'clean up' after party.

Upon entering the hotel, we thought it was modern and newly built. But it was even more amazing than we had imagined. Our room, facing the lagoon, was perfectly clean and fully furnished with minimal touches. What made it even more attractive was watching the lagoon birds fly by. We spent about an hour in the free canoe. Afterwards, I can highly recommend the massages at the spa, which were the best I have ever had. There is a snooker table and bar downstairs, and a short distance between the hotel building and the ocean, there is a beautiful and large "infinity" swimming pool with a second bar, directly at water level. The staff are very kind and friendly but always respect their own privacy. We would definitely be happy to spend a few more days here if we return to Tangalle.
