"lovely hotel and very helpful staff!"

10.0

So we knew there were small streets but that we could park near the hotel and I thought great, I've done small, narrow streets before, mmmm! So that was scary partly because a couple of the tiny roads had great rocks sticking out of the side, all the better to gouge your car with, then the turning through the arch, I chickened out as I didn't want to find myself stuck and unable to turn round. This is when the hotel review starts! We walked up and the very helpful guy at reception came back with us and as my rear drive car couldn't get enough grip to reverse over some metal sheets ( to the point of smoke!) he kindly came with me all through the town again and past the sticking out rocks which I again missed! Then I drove through the arch and what do you know, there is parking just through there in the church grounds, so anyone taking a car, yes go through the arch on your right when you've managed to get that far and then just on your left you can park in the church yard, Just don't arrive on a Sunday morning I guess! Leaving is easy, just back through the arch and straight down the very very steep hill! It is worth it the hotel is great, the staff we met were very very helpful and we had great stay once I'd recovered!

"Amazing: helpful, kind and we will definitely come back!"

10.0

We had a great first evening and morning in the Casa. Unfortunately during our hike trough the campo our dog needed urgent veterinary help. We called Casa de Orellana and they came within 3(!!!) minutes to pick us up and bring our dog to the vet. Don't know where we would have been without their help!! Much much appreciated. Further more, the Casa is just amazing. Very beautiful, clean and peaceful. Breakfast was super and we slept very well. Unfortunately as our dog was sick and therefore was unable to walk or stay alone in the hotel we needed to go home after the first night. But we will definitely come back!

"Most beautiful hotel in an old mansion in the medieval part of town"

10.0

A fantastic hotel with only a few rooms who have all acces to the "tropical" patio with a small swimmingpool.and a view of the towering church behind the hotel. Place for a romantic, restfull stay. The rooms are spacious and have excellent modern bathrooms. The stairs are a bit difficult to navigate, a bit more lightning could improve that as well as the common areas which, by the way, are gorgeous with the old estremadura furniture and paintings. The hotel gerant is most helpful and drives the guests to and from the busstation if so needed, or guides them to the hotel, great service in this town of narrow cobblestone streets and where parking space is not obvious, make sure you have their telephone number before arriving in town.

"River of Darkness"

10.0

We travelled through the Extremadura on the back of Buddy Levy's stunning acount of De Orellana's 'Voyage of Death and Discovery Down the Amazon' and Pizarro's last stand at Jacquijahuana, up in the Andes. One of our stops was in Trujillo, where we stayed in De Orellana's birthhouse. When one is swept away by the tales of courage and brutality of the Spanish Conquistadores, there is almost no better place to stay. There is by the way no better book that I can recommend.

"Oasis in Extremadura"

10.0

Like others we were very impressed by this place and Trujillo as well. Both are unique, tranquil and unspoiled. You will not regret visiting here. It has been a high point of our Spain adventure. We did have a very hard time finding it with our lousy rental car gps and had to call for help which seems to be SOP. They came right away.

"Special place."

10.0

Trujillo is a wonderful town and this is the perfect place to stay. In the midst of history and a perfect setting. The hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful. A delightful experience. Just a short walk to plaza mayor and everything else that needs to be experienced on the doorstep.

"Sleeping in the bed of the great conquistador"

10.0

Up above the Trujillo historical center, in the old alley you will find an antique door, no signs - only a cast iron name in the stone wall, Palacio de Orellana. The house belonged to the conquistador Francisco de Orellana (the first European sailing in the Amazon, in 1541). This beautiful house with it's gardens is an extraordinary place to stay. We were the last guests of the year and we had an extraordinary possibility to stay there alone and explore the beautiful palace by ourselves. We had the big bedroom of Francisco de Orellana with a balcony and few steps down to "our own" garden. The very helpful host and his wife came in the morning and prepared us a really lovely breakfast we enjoyed one of the big rooms. The only regret was that we could not stay longer.

"Historic and cozy hotel"

8.0

I stayed at Casa de Orellana for a few days on my trip to explore part of Extramadura. The hotel is nice and a very historic, I liked the tugged in and spacious rooms. The hotel is well located and you can walk all over the city from here, since Trujillo is not that big. My GPS took me straigth there, even though the road are narrow and winding, and upon arrival I just called and got help reg. luggage and parking, from the very helpful and friendly staff.

"A perfect hotel for a special occasion"

10.0

The manager and owner were so helpful and the location was perfect. Breakfast delicious. The hotel is so beautiful and tastefully furnished and the garden a delight. The drive to the hotel is a real spanish experience, being guided by the owner on his moped. We could do Trujillo by foot, buying biscuits at the nearby convent and a walking to a lovely restaurant, run by a husband and wife, around the corner. With five bedrooms it would be a perfect hotel to use for a special occasion with family or friends.

"Beautiful bead and breakfast in Trujillo"

10.0

This hotel is beautifully decorated and located in a medieval house right in the heart of Trujillo's old town. The service as well as the ambiance was very pleasant. It's a relaxing environment and best of all, they are pet friendly. I strongly recommend this hotel for a nice weekend getaway.
