Balintore Inn

Great location by the sea, very friendly staff and good atmosphere in pub/dining room . Good food and generous portions, fair prices. Only stayed one night but thought it would be a great place for a long weekend and exploring the area. Modern external room with large , built - in wardrobe. We were given the one with a sea view.

The mattress on the bed in our room seemed old and worn out springs- very uncomfortable. Leaving a tired mattress in an otherwise bright modern decor guest room is a shame as I would not book to stay again unless confirmed that another room has a modern, quality mattress. The step down out of the room was uneven and sloping. Very difficult for a person using a stick . I think a proper new step needs installing as it is a tripping hazard. If these issues were fixed then it would be a 10 out of 10 review. Other rooms looked to have a suitable step in place.

In room 8, where i stayed, there is black mould on the ceiling which definitely needs attentions.

We went to Balintore to attend an event at the Seaboard Centre, and the Balintore Inn was just a 5-minute walk from the venue. Breakfast included cereal and yogurt on the buffet table, and additional items (eggs, sausages, etc.) were available upon request. We wished bottled water had been readily available in our rooms, but we only found out the next morning that we could have requested it.

Our rooms were in the annex building, and getting there with our luggage was not very easy because the ground was covered with pebbles, making it difficult to roll our suitcases. The mattress was either old or not firm enough, as I could feel the bed slats underneath. Since we stayed for only one night, it was manageable.

The location was good. The cooked breakfast was good. The bar had a good atmosphere in the evening and the beer was good.

The bed in our room was the cheapest and poorest we have ever slept in, had a very cheap mattress and insubstantial frame. The toilet seat was so flimsy you felt it was going to break each time you used it. The price of the room was set at £180 per night for which you would expect a high standard of facilities. The breakfast area was poorly heated and all guests were having to wear heavy clothing to keep warm while having their breakfast. I would have been unhappy paying half this rate for what was provided. I would recommend anyone contemplating going to this Inn to look elsewhere.
